I don't know what I did to make the "My Documents" link on the "My Computer" window disappear but I want it back.

Anyone know how to restore it? It's on the desktop, I'd just like it in My Computer as well.

Thanks. *hugs*

Why don't you try copying the MY DOCUMENTS folder into MY COMPUTER by copying and pasting the folder, or simply dragging and dropping it into MY COMPUTER...:-)

/\ yep windows wont let you copy it there, or even place a shortcut there.

i found the same solution, so i wont post it again. Apparently it's a common thing in Win XP Pro. It's missing in mine as well, but I've never even seen it there so i didn't know it was missing. ;)

blondish - 'Files Stored on this computer', under My Computer in TweakUI was not checked.

Thanks! *big big hugs to everyone who helped*

Why would anyone save his personal data in the "my documents" folder? That's the first folder a virus or hacker looks at. Better create a new folder on a separate partition than the system one and use that one.

1) I'm not concerned about viruses. If AVG doesn't spot them, my firewall will.
2) I have nothing personal in there besides maybe 2-3 files.

it's the only folder where the WinFS permissions work properly on WinXP home editions ;)

are you sure you didn't enable "use personalized menus" somewhere? that can make a lot of system shortcuts vanish.

Otherwise what corny posted a while back is the only other thing i know to do.

(Hmm, I'm surprised that you've commented on my thread)

No, from my experience in using Windows, that has no effect on shortcuts in other places.
