OK, I mean i have been shaving my pubes for a while now. trimming around the edges, shaping up, to totally shaven.

I frequently get razor bumps (if its a new or old razor). I HATE THEM. sometimes it hurts too. I have used Nivea Aftershave but it still doesnt help.

Any suggestions?

Use Gillette Foamy for sensitive skin.

Make sure to wet you pubes with WARM water. it will make the hair ALOT softer. Also use after shave, after

I manscape. Trim my bush and shave my balls and around the base of my cock. The best results I have had is to use baby powder. I know that sounds weird but it works beautifully; no bumps, no cuts...ok, a nik once in a while. No water just baby powder. If using a multi-blade razor be sure to keep it clean.

I have a tube of anti-acne cream in the form of Benzoyl peroxide - deals with bumps and any redness in the follicles. Just need a dab about the size of a pea on each side of the pubic area (as opposed to your balls) if you trim and 'scape; probably double that if you shave the whole lot.

DON'T shave against the growth of the hair

My problem is that my hair kinda seems to go in every damn direction (that and I have course curly hair) so it's hard to shave with the grain.

I shave while taking a shower, with just water. Daily! I think if you don't do it daily, your skin isn't used to it and reacts.

Not sure where you're getting the razor bumps. I shave everything down there, and the only place I've ever gotten them has been at the base of my cock shaft and the surrounding pubic area. My advice would be:

1) Shave in the shower or the tub, after you've soaped down and rinsed off with warm water.

2) Use a high-quality shave foam and a reasonably fresh razor.

3) DON'T shave against the growth of the hair - this is the biggest mistake people make that gives them ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Shave in the direction that the hair is growing - that basically means downward (towards your feet) on your pubes, and upward (towards the head) on your cock shaft. The balls don't matter.

4) Rinse off well.

If I want a super-close shave, I shave as above, and then after drying off thoroughly, chase it with a high-quality electric foil shaver. That gets me baby-bottom smooth, without any ingrown hairs or razor bumps.

Very good points. To my understanding, the warm water is very important. And going against the grain is the only time I've ever gotten burned. Once I had an ingrown hair for over a month before it finally worked lose. Itched like Hades and was an eyesore. I was like, Geez, man, somebody's gonna think I've got the herp!

Oatmeal or oat flour in the shave gel is supposed to work wonders. I haven't had burn on my face since switching to a shave GEL with oatmeal. (Gel works better than cream. Period.)

As for me, I shave the cock and balls with just body wash and a Fusion razor. Everything else I use a body groomer for. I don't shave away the pubes, simply because I think it looks strange (the torso looks too long). I had one groomer by SharperImage that was wonderful. Sadly it went on the fritz and I pitched it. In retrospect, it's probably because I didn't change the foil. I have one by Phillips/Norelco that works very well, but doesn't trim longer hair with any alacrity. They're about $40. You have to change the foil every 12 months (6 months recommended), and I think that runs about $12 + shipping (I've never seen them for sale in store).

I usually shave my balls, as i've found that's the only area of my genitals that doesn't get razor bumps, ingrowns or painful stubble.

As for the pubes: I've shaved a couple of times, and i've tried EVERYTHING:

hot shower

exfoliating

fresh razor

shaving cream

conditioner

aftershave

vitamin E and aloe, etc.

I STILL get bumps, and the regrowth itches like a bitch. It doesn't matter. If you use something like sugaring or waxing, you can at least avoid the itchy regrowth, but i've heard you still get in-growns. I honestly don't think there's any way to remove pubic hair that doesn't involve some kind of pain, redness and discomfort.

^- and sweating. Last time I shaved was summer and I don't know why but I noticed later that day that I was sweating so much more down there

Actually, you probably sweat around the same, but it was all staying on your skin instead of being wicked into the hair. The amount you sweat is mostly genetic, though.

And there are lots of us who prefer shaved. So what?

To answer the question; I've used a fine electric to get almost all of it and then a razor and shave cream in the shower to get it smoother. My bf and I have been doing it for a long time and once your skin gets used to it from regular shaving (once per week) the bumps never appear again and it's no different than shaving your face.

I shave my pubes in the shower with the soap that I use to wash my body and a disposable twin blade razor. I do the same with my pits and face. I don't have any bumps or any itching.
