There are shower gels with olive or other oils in them or you can simply apply a small amount of baby oil while still in the shower.

Ever tried a humidifier at home? I just got one and this is the first year in forever that my nose doesn't constantly feel like I've been sniffing a blowtorch.

You should first try a moisturizer applied after your shower. Eucerin, Lubriderm and Cetaphil are brands that are available in most US drug stores that work well for this purpose.

If the itchy rash persists after you moisturize, you may have eczema. Ezcema is a chronic irritation of the skin that gets worse during dry weather.

If it is eczema, you can try an over-the-counter hydrocortisone creme but often these are not strong enough and you will need to see a dermatologist.

Do you use soap in the shower 'cause that may not be heping? if so, you may want to try something like "Dove" which is mainly moisturiser. All use a body wash that doesn't have soap in it as I had a similar problem. I now use a shower wash and moisturiser.

Hope this helps. When i was living in London it was hell in winter until I stopped using soap so hope it works for you, too.

I'd use an oil-free moisturizer, works wonders for me.

I have itch problems during cold weather, mostly on my legs. I found that Gold Bond extra strength lotion in the green pump container works best for me. But only if applied right after I shower. The stuff is thick, so I wet down my legs good with water before applying it. If I wake up at night with itchy legs, I apply a clear itch lotion containing pramoxine hcl 1%. I apply it thick 2 times and let it completely dry before letting anything touch my legs. I use an old hairbrush to scratch with. If I scratch with my fingernails, I scratch "backwards" to keep from breaking the skin.

Never use bar soaps. They all contain starch as hardeners which irritate already damaged skin. Some shower gels specifically state that they don't contain any soap. Some contain shea butter, which moisturizes. If you don't have a L'Occitane store near you the products can be ordered online. Their Extra-Gentle Wash for hands and body contains shea. Moisturize after showering any parts of your body that tend to get dry and flakey. Also run a humidifier. Sometimes when your skin is already irritated other factors can worsen the situation. Try using a delicate baby soap to do all of your laundry such as Dreft.

Use CeraVe cream or lotion. Its 16 bucks at your local phramacy for a tub of the stuff. It works wonders! Its hypoallergenic so if you have sensitive skin you're cool. Its not greasy, and wont leave you with that "Creamy lotion ick" feeling after you apply it. Its the coolest stuff, it like feeds your skin. Try using it twice a day to start ( or more if you need too, i wash my hands alot so i need to reapply).

Try AmLactin. My doctor turned me on to it. Best lotion I've ever tried. It's OTC but usually it's behind the pharmacy counter.
