One mouse asked another mouse: "Did you get your Covid-19 vaccine"?

The other mouse responded: "No way. Human experiments show that the vaccine is unsafe for mice."

Oh well, after having tortured billions of animals in research labs, I suppose it's karma that humans now know what it's like to be the guinea pig. (It generally takes ten years of investigation before a vaccine is considered safe enough to be put on the market).

Scientists didn't just start the vaccine for Covid-19 when it first came to be back in late 2019, it's been in the making for around 20 years for other similar strains.

New vaccines are first developed in laboratories. Scientists have been working for many years to develop vaccines against coronaviruses, such as those that cause severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is related to these other coronaviruses. The knowledge that was gained through past research on coronavirus vaccines helped speed up the initial development of the current COVID-19 vaccines.

The only shortcut that was taken was getting government approval. It was authorized under emergency use. The testing process was the same as it would be for any vaccine.

Isn't that funny.

I don't remember decades of trials and double blind studies before a vaccination for smallpox was put into use.

Funny that it apparently worked.

/\ Yes, about three centuries to eradicate smallpox with/by inoculation.

I didn't check to see how many people may have died on the trail.:)

This is all fascinating. Thank you all for the links.

And I thought you were smarter than lies and misinformation.

That wasn't what the point was about.

It was about humans being the 'guinea pigs'....but in the end. Voila.

So COVID isn't the first time that humanity has taken a flyer on looking for a way to avoid total catastrophic outcomes like the 1918 pandemic.

The foundations of inoculation science.

/\ What do you think I meant by "how many people may have died on the trail"?

Should I have said "that trail", refering to the three century long smallpox inoculation/eradication trail?

Should I have said "guinea pigs" instead of "people"?

:)
