It happened again, The Fast Lane Truck (TFL), just took possession of a £103,730 ($115,000) GMC Hummer EV. In less than a week a major software glitch left truck and driver stranded in a left turn lane on a busy road. Every attempt to start the truck failed. With the truck dead on the road, the transmission automatically shifts to Park, but the powertrain failure means the transmission doesn't work either.
Now we have a 4,082 kg (9,000 lbs.) electric truck dead on the road and a tow truck can't move it with the transmission in Park.
Many terrible accidents are caused by stalled vehicles on a busy road. It makes me wonder if our brave new world of computerized transportation really will change nothing for the better.
