I was out with some gay friends, dancing to cheesy pop (and some queen, of course) at the best local gay night when I a track came on that I'm sure I know, but I just can't place the name!

I'm pretty sure it's sixties diva stuff. It has a line in the chorus, "All around the world" where the Around and World were elongated I think. I'm pretty sure it's well known. I can't find it on google, because I basically get loads of results of All Around the World by Lisa Stansfield messing everything up.

Lisa's song first came to mind. Thought I can help - but I got lost trying to understand what elongated is. Sorry. ; (

well these are the artists I get when I searched for it...so you can pick...haha

Oasis
Lisa Stansfield
Hilary Duff
Jerry Garcia
Louise
Boyz II Men
Malignant Tumor
Lionel Richie
The Dead Milkmen
R. Kelly
Paul Simon
Bing Crosby
ATC(This is the one that came to my mind first when I read this post)
The Game
Judas Priest
D&G
Aqua

i went 13 pages deep in the results and then they started basically repeating or giving me other songs....so i figure these are all your choices=)

Well, I looked through this list, and immediately... it's a female singer. soooo

D&G

Then I know some bands that it isn't, on that list, so:

D&G

Hmm, well, that's made checking each one out easier. Erm, I've never heard of them, though. I'm pretty sure the song I'm looking for is really old.

It might - you're all gonna hate me - not be All Around the World, because I have a sinking feeling it's 'All Over the World'

It's so annoying, not knowing! It's like when me and my mate were at uni yesterday, and we just couldn't place Richard O'Brien's character's name in Rocky Horror... He'd stood up before a lecture and asked the entire class, none of them knew... eventually we got our cheerful lecturer to tell us. T'was Riffraff.

Well, if you take the 'e' from it, it makes more sense. You just lengthen it, basically. Y'know when singers sing a word for longer? Like, think Whitney Houston - And I will always love you. The I and the You are massively elongated... "And IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEeeEIIIIIIIIII Will aalllways Looooooooooooooooove youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuwoooouoooowhoaaaaaaaaaaoooooooo..."

See what I mean?
;)

I have a feeling the song your looking for is 'Around the world' By Daft Punk....if it is u owe me a drink lol

Daft punk have been around since the sixties, and have a female singer? I'd never have guessed...#-o

Nah, I hear that song pretty much every day. I'm bored to death of it... It's so repetitive!
And my University union bar plays it all the time.

Didn't they have a male singer?

I'm after a female singer, with the whole sorta groove of sixties female soul songs.

I'm also a fan of ATC's song. How can you not love a song that's as simple as "It goes around the world and la la la la la..."?

Can you think of any more words?...... I'm getting the same thoughts as the rest of comments made....

A Frayed Knot. *shrugs*

It's kinda got the same beat as Nine To Five by Dolly Parton, if it helps. I was looking for the playlists on my local forums, but they don't have them for tuesdays.

Souljahz?
Coco Lee?
Eiffel 65 -- or was it daft punk like guessed above? (sounds kinda girlish ;-))

Maybe try a youtube search and see if she as a video.

Can't be eiffel 65 or Daft Punk, because I know they're 1.) Too recent, and 2.) I know the song you're talking about, and it's not that.

Not tried Souljahz or coco lee, I'll check them out.

maybe it's "All Around the World" by Cooler Kids

yes, it's not 60s nor is it diva-ish.
please refrain from biting from head off.

I'm not biting anyone's head off, I'm just saying we've already discussed a lot of the suggestions getting mentioned, not to mention I do keep saying it's from the sixties.
