She is my favorite J-rock artist...she writes composes and produces everything herself. she's genuine and everything u hear is 100% her.

Some songs I recommend (if u like hard rock)

She fluctuates but some of the harder rock songs are -

Spiderspins
Blind Unicorn
Devil's In me
Fake Flowers
Sugarbloodsuckers
Walk On By
Solarhalfbreed
Lettuce Garden
Escape the Flames
Under Your Waves

ENJOY =)

she's really amazing =D

oh gosh i'm rambling..she's just my all time favorite!

Mika Nakashima's a new one and she's pretty good too. I enjoy Gackt's stuff. Mif you enjoy Malice Mizer, I recommend Mois Dix Moi, as it's almost identical (Mana from Malice Mizer formed them after MM broke up)

i'm more into j-pop but i do love l'arc en ciel...'flower' is one of my favorite songs

haven't lived until you've heard ayumi hamasaki, utada hikaru, or namie amuro, though;)

I love her. Do you remember her in a group called D&D (Dance and Dream) from AvexTrax? I love Sweetbox, she is another Avex artist. She sings a great song called "Addicted" and "Everythings gonna be Alright" she sampled classical music and turned it into hip hop and R&B shes awesome I think you would like her just as much as Olivia. She also did music for Yuna I think for FF X-2.

For the folks who like Pop, Hikaru Utada is pretty good. She's the border between Pop and R&B. Kumi Koda's pretty good for R&B too.

Another great group is Asian Kung Fu generation.

I recommend ALL their songs.

but OLIVIA is #1
I second that. From what I've heard, I liek them.

They more of J-Punk/Alternative Rock, though.

I love J-Pop and am a big fan of Utada Hikaru and Hamasaki Ayumi. Tommy February6 (she also goes by Tommy Heavenly6) is also good.

i want some screams, some chugga chugga, you know what i mean dude!

Inugami Circus-dan is my favorite J-Rock band. You should definitely try them out. They scream alot lol

I love jpop, and Ayumi Hamasaki is my fave, she's the girl in my avatar! I also love Hikki Utada, Mika Nakashima, Namie Amuro and Ami Suzuki.

If you like j-rock, check out Shiina Ringo (solo) and her band Tokyo Jihen. She's amazing!

Gackt is cool, as is Miyavi. :) Also try Alice Nine, they're the new "it" band! :D

uploaded a song for ya'all
teh title seem to have gone lost o.o
must be because it were japanese kana
ah well too bad
about teh song! it's a duet between Gackt en Hyde called Orenji no Taiyou
to my opinion, it's one of teh most romantic songs i've evah heard!
here yu can read teh lyrics
hope yu like it!

I'm a big fan of J-Rock;The Pillows, Orange Range, but I prefer J-Pop myself; Utada Hikaru, Koda Kumi and BoA. There is also Jay Chou...but can he be classified as "J"? I mean, he's a Taiwanese R&B and Rap artist that only speaks Chinese, but he's really big all over Asia especially Japan.

Ahhh! J-Rock'n Pop!

Pop

Mika Nakashima ~ She's rather new to the scene and has a big yet gentle voice. I Kinda liken her to a "clean" Christina Aguilerra.
Hikaru Utada ~ The Goddess! She did the songs for Kingdom Hearts, both really good. The rest of her stuff is amazing, she's always on my Ipod.

Rock

Gackt ~ Is definately up there. His stuff gets better as you go backwards in his musical career. Mizerable, Doomsday, Seki-Rai, Lu:Na... ect, most of his stuff's great imo.
L'arc en ciel is pretty nice too, so's Jaan d'Arc, both are a bit poppish to me though.

And then there's Dir en Grey ~ Moody, dark, yet very catchy. I'm picky with their songs but the ones I like are awesome.

Here's a few songs of Hikki's (Hikaru) , you should definately try them out:
Wait and See ~Risk~
Final Distance
Hikari. There's also an English version of this called Simple and Clean (used in Kingdom Hearts).
Keep Tryin'
Passion. This is the Japanese version of her English song Sanctuary, which was used in Kingdom Hearts 2.
She also has some great and pretty imaginative music videos too.

i really like that that selection from hikaru utada, my favorite songs from her are this is love, devil inside, and traveling, and i agree she does have some really imaginative music videos as does ayumi hamasaki. They both have the greatest music videos EVER ! ! !

Utada Hikaru is incredible! Reading this whole topic gets me so excited seeing that other people know about (and like!) her :D I think she is such a talented artist, and her voice is beautiful. My favorite songs of hers definitely have to be Colors, Automatic, and the song BLUE from her new album. I could listen to her ...and I usally do, all day long.

I'm not too familiar with J-rock as much as J-pop, but there are a few songs by Miyavi and Shiina Ringo that I really enjoy, as others have mentioned. But you still can't go wrong with Utada ;)

I completely forgot about Plastic Tree! They're definitely more edgy, rock-sounding than others and they have a unique sound...kinda electronic-like in some songs. IF you've never listened to them before, I would suggest the song "Ghost" as a starting vehicle to get into them. It's SO fun :D

by the sounds of the names of these artists they are not japanese, are they, they sound more like cpop (chinese pop). not to say the cpop is bad, im a huge fan of Faye Wong mysel, just that i sont know much of it, i'll be sure 2 check these artists though\:/

Nah, he's not Japanese. He's Taiwanese, but he's pretty big in Japan, and in alot of the other countries over there. He has some really great music.
