I just wanted to say that I finally came out to my parents and sister today! There was a bit of yelling and lots of tears, but it ended rather well. I feel really good about my family knowing but I also feel guilty for making them feel bad. It really is a strange feeling.

Just wanted everyone to know!

daycfern:-)

Congratulations,

I hope you continue to feel free and good and honest. That your family went through some feelings of bad, that is not your fault, that is just family.

Best luck and may your journey continue to be a good one - take care of yourself and continue to Celebrate your life.

The yelling was due to the fact that my father feels that it is his fault that I am gay. Whenever my dad and I get into an arguement yelling is present!

Congratulations for taking such a huge step! ..|

Congratulations. Your dad could be right, he may have passed on the gene that lead to you being gay but until scientists figure out just what it is that makes people gay you'll never know for certain.

congratulations. It is great to finally read about someone coming out in the coming out forum.

Congrats daycfern!!!!

That really strange feeling is the start of a new beginning... the one you deserve to have! its the start of an open honest life without hiding or guilt. Its the start of you being all you can be and feeling proud of who you are!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and your courage!!!! Its awesome to see you happy as you start this amazing chapter of your life!

Congrats!

Hope your dad loses his angst.

Fatherly guilt is a fairly common reaction. At least mine had it and many of my friends' dads as well. In my case, once he got used to the idea, our relationship improved a lot. He was always very huggy, but for some reason I wasn't able to let him until after I was out to him.

Thanks guys, for all your support. It makes me feel really good knowing others have gone through the same struggles as myself!

Yea for you. Aren't most dad yellers? It's just the storm before the calm -- hopefully.

WTG! Im still try to come out, lol I need to real bad...

good for you dude.
thats the next step i gotta take. telling the family.

Congratulations on taking such a huge step forward! Things will only get better now that everyone knows. There might be a rough spot or two, but give everyone time to adjust. The big key to making things work is keeping the lines of communication open. Talk things out and be patient.
