You know, when I was coming out I had these two friends who were a lesbian couple. And as soon as I told them I thought I might be gay they went way overboard. They were all like "we'll take you to all the gay clubs and gay restaurants and gay plays and you'll make all new gay friends and, well we'll have to get you a new gay wardrobe and gay gay gay gay gay."

It was because of them I went right back into the closet for four years. The thing is, at the time I was scared to death. I didn't understand why I couldn't just be me and be gay. Why did I have to become this whole other person? The thing is, looking back, they were just excited and wanting to help. They never meant to make me think I had to change, they just wanted to make things easier for me. It's like telling someone you like cupcakes and then they give you nothing but cupcakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you get sick because you don't have any real food! But looking back on it, the lesson I've learned is that you take all the advice that is given to you but you stay true to yourself. And if people seem overwhelming, they're just trying to help.

And listen to Jasun, I've known him for years and he's a total heavy metal fan. I was always more of a gay punk fan myself.

yeah I guess I can say thats me

but heres my problem... I've talked to 2 guys and they both stopped calling me! I called one of em and he answered "Im busy and hung up" I don't even call him, so I know I didn't annoy him!!!
the other guy we chatted for a couple of days and decided to meet up for the weekend and he didn't call me the night b4 but I called him and left him a voice message and he never called back!
Now I'm suspened from work casue I called the day off for him and we didn't meet up!
I take it hard man, it hurts ALOT!

till this day both guys I don't chat with at all cause 1 I don't want to bother them and 2nd I think they found sum1 else! SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concerts, well the thing is you can't tell if they're gay or not... plus I go with a group of friends!
The way I see it, I like guys for being guys! men just be men, I'm not into the girly stuff.

By the way, there's a big gay hard rock scene in SF. I personally am a huge fan of Death Metal, Symphonic metal and just about any kind of metal.

Good Christ, could this thread try to reinforce stupid preconceived gay stereotypes any more?

For everything under the sun gay people are just like "str8" people with their interests. If you are gay, you like dick. Not fucking Cher, tanning, or whatever else. It's about who you are attracted to and fuck, not what your hobbies are that make you gay.

Calling off "dating guys" because of 2 rejections? Get used to it. Just because the first two guys you wanted to chat to didn't feel the same doesn't mean you give up on the entire male population. The internet is a great tool, that's all. It's not a replacement for one to one connection, but rather a way to make an introduction.

Everyone needs to come out of the closet at their own time, but face the facts and realize that when a gay person says, "I'm in the closet, and no one knows at all" means you've also cut off meeting someone in your day to day life, or for your friends to possibly introduce you to someone. In reality this probably represents over 50% of the way people meet each other originally.

Everyone wants to think they are one in a million, but guess what even at that ratio that means there are 305 others just like you here in America alone. I've slept with NFL football players, artists, musicians, a UFC champ, and others. Trust me, you aren't that unique, nor unlovable, nor too different to find someone else that you will get along great with, have a connection, and want to spent time together. Dating is a numbers game. If you can find 1 in 10 guys you talk to someone you want to go out on dates with, look at the bright side Jo-Thin, you have 2 down 7 more to go before you find Mr. Datable.

I kinda identify myself with this. Specially the music part...although I enjoy giving everything a shot and I listen to varied styles of music I LOVE ME too much rock and metal...and, so far, there are few who enjoy it. Most detest it!

Jo, I know where you're comin' from man. There's not all that much stereotypical about maself either. It being an issue just depends on whether or not you can find yourself attracted to really poofy guys, which I can, and as you've said, you can't.
