Im at the point of sequester where Ive run out of shit to watch so I'm rewatching shit. Of course Im talking about the only watchable part of the series-- the next generation.

This show was waaaaaaaay ahead of its time and put all the other teen shows to shame. Domestic violence child abuse drugs sex, sexual assault and false accusations of sexual assault, people in wheelchairs, mixed-race families. I think degrassi invented woke cuz no other shows were this ra w and real and yall know a bij like me that only knows how to keep it real can relate to this. The writing is so fresh that the unforgivably bad acting doesnt even bother me. And god is this acting B.A.D.

PS i love the way they say "aboot"

We're rather proud of that series up here. The original series began with 'The Kids of Degrassi Street' (1979-1986). It continued with 'Degrassi Junior High' (1987-1989) and finished with 'Degrassi High' (1989-1991).

They covered all the topics you mention and I would like to add 'teen pregnancy'. It was way ahead of its time over 40 years ago. I've never seen any of the current series. Do they still follow the same students throughout or do they swap out the students?

And i only watched the next generation, the one with drake, i gave the previous incarnation a try and didnt last 3 minutes. I refuse to try the newest one cuz i know the likelihood of that magic being recreated is slim to none.

And did I mention the acting is terrible? :rotflmao:

Yeah you guys do! Also You say I'm surrey for I'm sorry, Stacey Farber (Ellie) was the biggest offender of this! Also if you have ever seen the 1992 Degrassi movie "School's Out" Snake is talking to Joey Jeremiah and Joey says the oddest sentence in "English" I have EVER HEARD: Well then
Cum-yon Me-yahn lets gE-yo" Which is supposed to actually sound like: Well then c'mon man Let's GO! I literally went back like 10 times just to make sure I heard what I heard!

Well the newer actors Especially the guy who played Tristan I mean that character was such a little bitch! But there were some hot guys like Daniel Clark, Daniel Kelly Eric Osbourne

I shouldve done a poll for who's the most over-acted character. I think Craig Manning is a clear frontrunner.
 
^New competition for over-acting, Terri's abusive boyfriend. Watching the episode right now and still cant remember his name but hes reading his lines like the director has a gun pointed to his head offscreen.

There is a lot of overacting Spike, Kaitlyn OMG Sometimes I just wanna smack Stacey Mistysian's face, Emma Is SUPREMELY Annoying! Hazel you honestly forget shes there Toby ugh and just wait for Manny's completely COMPLETELY AWFUL HAIR STYLES! the blonde orange soccer mom thing is the worst! Now if this is not allowed please delete it but this is the actress Cassie Steele as Manny Santos on Degrassi this is from season 7 from 2008 the actress was 19 so it should be ok even though she is playing a "high schooler"i8cnjfanmzm71.jpg real happenin hair girl... clearly there is not a gay hairstylist on set!

Also we need to differentiate overacting from underacting. Ashley is part of the group that reads like they just ate a percocet an hour before filiming.

I recognised the name 'Spike' from the original Degrassi. I checked IMDb and found a few other characters: Joey Jeremiah, Snake...

The same actors are portraying the same characters in both series, so I'm guessing it's their kids who are now attending Degrassi.

I miss Wheels, and so sad about Neil Hope. No one should die like that.

Burnt out on Degrassi. I had to stop around Jimmy's record deal. We had a good run. The funniest thing about the show is and will always be the terrible acting.

bootleg? check your forum comments. i saw a terrible blue wig on a new cast member and reaffirmed my decision to drop out after the Drake generation.

Needed a break from work so I started binging where I left of years ago, season 9, and somehow the acting has gotten even worse. :rotflmao: I'm on the episode where Peter starts using meth and although there's nothing funny about addiction his portrayal of an addict is so cartoonish and over-the-top. Also minor detail, when he went to buy more he slapped his money in the dealer's hand right on the street in front of the whole world and God, anybody who has ever bought illegal substances knows you step out of sight of the public cuz if an officer saw your exchange that's a charge. This show is so ridiculous.
