I had a tooth removed a few months ago. It's all healed up now and everything works fine, but do I now have an increased risk of contracting HIV through oral sex?

If the hole has completely healed then you are not at increased risk.

HIV risk increases with exchange of body fluids (in this case semen) and open sores. If the sore from the tooth extraction has healed, then you should be okay.

The rule still should be "On me, not in me", though.

My bf had one a tooth pull just a week ago, and the dentist told him that it would take at least 2-3 months for it to heal completely and close up.

He said although the pain may have gone away the hole is not completely closed yet.

so be carefull

Be careful with these kinds of statements. When you ask your dentist about how long it will take for something to heal, give him the context of your question.

The dentist is thinking about the bone when he says 3 months. It takes that long for everything to heal before you can start the work to replace the tooth with an implant.

In terms of this thread, all you need is for the gums to heal and that will take a lot less time. I would be extra careful until the stitches are removed/dissolved and then go back to the usual careful.

"open sore" + bodily fluid for me does not equal a good time. I would steer clear until you are 100% sure that you are safe, there is no reason in putting yourself at risk.
