lol

I read recently that there's a vaccine for it now, but I guess once you have it it's too late for that, huh?

I know exactly how you feel. I got shingles earlier this year before I turned 20! It sucked SO much, not mention it hurt too. Mine took about 2 weeks to go away because I waited too long before I went to the hospital. ](*,)
I actually had to sleep in a chair for a couple of days because it hurt so much!

I got shingles when I was 18 - guess it's not just for babies and old folks anymore!

Luckily my cousin is a wanna-be doctor so she called it before they got too bad. I never had all the horrible painful symptoms, but I do still have a small scar on a my side.

I'm glad to here that your symptoms have gone away, Tookies!

the herpes virus that causes chicken pox when re-expressing itself on a spinal nerve can present itself as shingles, or if it re-expresses itself, it causes bells palsy(where half of your face is temporarily paralyzed)
high frequent doses of acylcovir is often effective in treating both

Tookies,

Sorry you have shingles and am glad that it is subsiding. As others have said, it is caused by the herpes-zoster virus and you do not want to disturb the pustules any more than necessary. Also, be very careful about washing your hands if you touch the area and keep them away from your eyes. A friend of mine developed the virus in his eye and lost the sight of that eye. Not to scare you, but be cautious.

There is a vaccine for it now so you should ask your doctor if it could help you now or get inoculated later so this occurence won't happen again. At least after the inoculation, if you do develope it, it is a much milder case.

Good luck and get better soon. Let us know how you are. (*8*)

So happy you are over the worst of it!

I know how you feel.....

Some time ago I came up with something similiar; but mine was mostly on my lips, you know almost like the fever blister sores?

Well, the doc told me that this was a form of the shingles/herpes simplex coming out on my mouth....It was also very painful.

I now take Acyclovir every day to try and ward off any other bad case(s) that might arise out of it!

I canNOT imagine the stuff all over my body, I think I would die!

Happy you're mostly over it and hope it doesn't come back!(*8*)

im only 22 but i also had shingles last year but it only affected my left hand and arm so it wasnt that bad, and went away in no time at all. hope ya feel better.

I had it when i was 23 - but they congregated on the back of my kneck and even had two of the little fuckers in my ear - it was the most excruciating pain I've ever had. I don't envy you!
