So today I was sitting in my room watching tv and surfing the web on my laptop. I was right underneath my light ficture at the time. The glass globe that surrounded the light fell, smashed over my head (ow) and shattered into a million pieces. The peaces not only cut my head, my hands, and varius parts of my laptop, but shot into the lcd screen resulting into breaking the lcd display.

So now i need a new screen for my laptop. FUN, especially while im jobless. I looked up prices and it runs around 300 dollars for a new one (If i go to best buy or another retail store). So that is out of the question. I am a geek myself and im fairly confident that I can replace it myself, I just need a screen. So I did some searching for a HP Pavillion dv6000 lcd 15.4'' screen and found the cheapest route is to go with ebay...

I try hard to avoid ebay because I have no idea out legit people are. It is 70 dollars if I buy it through EBay. Now my question is, how reliable is EBay? I use amazon for most things, and I have searched Tigerdirect and Newegg but I cant seem to find anything (either that or I am still messed up from glass shattering over my head). Anyway... how safe is it to buy from ebay?

This is the link I am looking at: HP-Pavilion-DV5000-DV4000-DV6000-15-4-WXGA-LCD-SCREEN_W0QQitemZ380102050651QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item587fd9035b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

(typ ebay . com before hand)

What are the odds I get screwed twice in one day? Thanks for any help.

I am a seller and a buyer on eBay. I would do the following:

1. Check the sellers feedback and see what he/she has sold and the corresponding feedback he/she received.

2. Pay with PayPal and a credit card so you have double buyer protection. PayPal is pretty good at resolving issues. You can also dispute a charge on your CC if your unhappy.

Sorry to see you had all these problems in 1 day mate! It will get better!

One more question. Does It cost anything to get a paypal account? I'd check but an I touch takes a while to load these things and I'm currently without a computer... Thanks again!

costs nothing to get a paypal account; all you need is to input a credit card. From personal experience, actually recently this week I bought a used xbox360 for my brother for $90 and got it today it works plus got some neat accessories with it.

I definitely agree with WYSIWYG above with checking out the seller's feedback; you should especially read all the information from top to bottom of the product page before making a bid. Good Luck!

Thanks. I hooked up my laptop to my old computer monitor so the laptop is working like nothing ever happened to it and the webca, is fine (it is located right next tot he screen so i was concerned) I just regreat deleting all my ahem important... files when i could only see like a fourth of the screen. Now i see that it wasnt necessary... o well thnaks for the information!

Today my screen came in the mail. I was very happy as everything fit and I was able to install the new screen without toooo much difficulty. I turn ont he pc after putting everything back together and to my surprise, or should I say lack there of? Half the screen is flickering and doesnt work. GREAT. Now I have to wait longer to send the almost broken screen back and get a new one. This is wonderful. Oh well I guess that's life eh?

Well I always have really good luck lol. I replaced the lightbulb... or added a lightbulb to the light in my room when I came back from college. But that was over a month ago and I made sure that the light was very tightly screwed back on...

I just think it is someones way of telling me I am not ment to have nice things in life. Wouldn't be the first time.

Just wanted to let anyone who read this and cared (yeah yeah so no one cared lol im just excited) that I finally got a replacement screen that worked and my laptop is now back together! :-)
