I keep losing my passwords when computer shuts off

A little advice please?

I'm running XP (version 2002) and I must have altered some default setting somewhere.

When my computer shuts down completely or does an automatic re-start (for an update) all of my password protected websites require me to log back in.

What have I done?

They treat me like a new user EVEN when I have selected the "save password" box on some of the sites.


As an aside, I also use the CCleaneer Vol. 205 and am pretty sure that I have the settings correct.

I'd really appreciate some advice/tech help. This is VERY frustrating.

Well, what browser are you using? (Firefox, Chrome, IE, or what? :) ) That's the key piece of information for investigating your issue and I didn't notice it in your post?

Might be your privacy settings and/or cookies. These differ to check/adjust per program. Post your software name for specific help.

Regarding CCleaner, you can always run it in manual mode which lets you review all the potential changes/deletes before accepting them. That way you can make sure it doesn't toast cookies, saved password/form data, or other stuff that you do want!

I have read your post and tried to answer the question about my browser to the best of my ability. Could I PM you, trinket if you're willing to offer a bit of tech assistance off line?

I mean I would send you my email address, as I don't have MSN.

Please advise.
 
I think Trinket means that if you post the name of your browser that you use to surf the internet such as Internet explorer, firefox, chrome, safari, opera etc. then people might be better able to help.
 
Yeah, I think posting your Browser of choice helps a lot of people that way you get multiple opinions on what's going on. Only way I can think is that you must of set something which deletes cookies when you close your browser.

But you state passwords meaning that your saved passwords no longer come up, maybe you disabled the use of saving passwords.
