Lol ... I took their stupid 3 hour test to qualify and even played with an intern pretending to be Alex. I was called back for a second call audition, but my vacation was over. Who knows what could have been?

He is smart and has a hell of a strategy to go with it.

He's the only one I've seen that bets smart. There's so many contestants that I question their betting, especially in final Jeopardy.

You may remember I am on the current eligible contestant list for Jeopardy!, having had an interview last October. I remain eligible thru April 2020 and am awaiting my call.

But not too soon, please! James is a formidable contestant and I might just be fodder for his winnings. Or maybe not...but he has a great range of knowledge. But I do too.

Trust me, you will know when I get chosen.

Yes, I have been watching. I like him, but pity the other contestants because they don't have a chance against him. If they were on at another time, some of them would be winners. I'm going to keep on watching.

Thad have you been practicing ringing in? I think that is one of the keys to James success. He does know everything but he is lightning quick buzzing in. You don't even see him do it. Most contestants move their hand too much and cost them time.

Never seen the show but it reminds me of a young Indian kid around 12 year old on Countdown who seemed to stay for weeks knocking adults out over and over.

My son and I were talking about that, the one thing that stands out is that this contestant realizes that he is betting money that he doesn't have yet, so he knows that is he is wrong he really has lost nothing out of pocket. He is very bold and aims for the high amounts first so that if he hits a daily double he will have a large amount to wager.

I haven't watched him, but I love to see someone break the bank on Jeopardy.

James killed it again tonight with $106k for over $560k total.

I was watching ST:TNG 'All Good Things...' and missed it.

Does anyone else find James very familiar? I keep thinking I've seen him on some other game show.

He was on The Chase. I think it was a game show network show.

That's where I saw him. Thanks. I've seen each episode of 'The Chase' at least twice. James has a unique, memorable smile.
Two wonderful game shows! Of course I've never seen original airings of Countdown on the telly, because I live in a different part of the world, but nice that so many are on YouTube. Both are in my Top Ten game show series of all time - Jeopardy is #1 and...guess what...Idiotest is probably #2!! And I SAW some of that 12-year-old kid's appearances on YouTube sometime last year. I'd forgotten that part about his heritage (I was just so stunned by his performance), but there seem to be a LOT of smart people from the Subcontinent, even more than its huge population would suggest. Have you ever seen how children of Indian heritage do in the annual Spelling Bee?

And, as regarding Idiotest...who knew? I enjoy "lateral thinking" and Idiotest is exactly that, in the trump suit.

I haven't seen this new guy yet, but all the Jeopardy's (current) that I haven't seen are in my DVR, and I watch them sequentially; eventually I'll get to these most recent shows. But $100K-days TWICE?? That's just nuts...

I doubt I would know enough in the right areas to get anywhere, nor would I have the patience to practice and do the other things I've read these guys do to compete. They are largely guys aren't they?

I read once that Mel Gibson's father made a lot of money on Jeopardy when Gibson was a kid and then used it to move the whole family to Australia.

Speaking of quiz show phenomena, there's this guy, recently back in the news:
