It is said, "the Greeks had a word for it." Yeah, but the English have several words for it. I am sorry to be so anal about it, but I am irritated if not offended when words, phrases, and idioms are arbitrarily added or dropped from proper English usage, with those purists among us discovering the changes well after the fact. I will rave or rant about this from time to time. My opening shot: When did people start "graduating high school" instead of graduating FROM high school? To graduate something means you lift it or raise it.. To graduate from something, you finish lifting it and move on to other things, such as college ,or the military.
Inconsequential? Maybe. My age has something to do with my opinions. I graduated from all schools long, long ago. Yeah, I know language has some fluidity and change, but please don't change much more until after my final graduation.
