I need new music

great ;)
maybe you like these too:

patrick wolf - the magic position

I'll second that. The entire album (which has the same title) is absolutely brilliant.
I'll also recommend the tracks 'The Libertine' and 'Tristan' from his album Wind in the Wires.

>>>The Killjoke song, sounds a lot like the opening riff on "Come as you are" by nirvana.

Nirvana got a bit of grief about that. Killing Joke, if memory serves, laughed about it but didn't ask for money. :)

If you like symphonic metal, then I'd DEFINITELY recommend a Finnish band called Sonata Arctica. You didn't mention liking it or disliking it though, so I'm not sure.
Check out their Reckoning Night album - it's their best, in my opinion, and probably their most accessible. Perhaps their Silence album as well.

I'd classify Sonata Arctica more as a power metal band than symphonic metal. Sure there are elements from symphonic metal but their overall sound is much more of power metal.
Besides, most of their songs are way too repetitive, the tempos and melodies...they always repeating the same. However I do love a few of their songs such as "Fullmoon", "Tallulah", "The End Of This Chapter" and "Replica". The rest, for my taste, are too repetitive though a few are enjoyable but after a while I get tired of the same thing over and over again.

BlackWolf, if you want to try real symphonic metal you should try Nightwish (please avoid their latest album, it sucks! The other ones are great), Within Temptation (earlier work such as the "Mother Earth" album), Therion ("Lemuria" and "Sirius B" albums specially), Symphony X (try the "V - The New Mythology Suite" album) and Luca Turilli (specially the "The Infinite Wonders of Creation" and "Prophet of the Last Eclipse" albums).

You might wanna also try listening to Breaking Point's "Beautiful Disorder" album. It's a cool rock band.

I'll THIRD that recommendation for Sonata Arctica.

True. The 80's had a LOT of cheesiness but that's, for some reason, part of why I love that era. LOL. I absolutely HATE cheesy but many of the tunes from the 80's were just fun and are great for parties, for drinking and smoking joints and just have some crazy shit fun. lol

Yeah. I mean their new singer sings well but her singing and tone are extremely standard and too cliche. Tarja really gave Nightwish a unique sound and by firing her they also threw away a HUGE contribution to their unique sound, therefore, they lost it. Tarja's singing gave me chills while this new singer annoys me to death and their overall sound is too cliche. It really sucks.
I love them and it just pisses me off how bad they became with the new album...

on the other hand they also gained a new bigger group of fans by switching to the style they chose to go to. if they fired tarja for reasons why would they hire a copy of her back ? a it would be way disrespectful to her, b they would still be the same and c everyones seems to not remeber the fact that a band is made up of more then just the person singing, the thing that makes nightwish them is the songs that they sing, how much emotion and feelings come behind the person who writes them i just cant think of how you spell his name i think its like tumas or something. but i will agree they lost a big share of there fans but they also gained new ones, and the one thing i always tell nightwish fans that dont like the new singer if it wasnt for her you wouldnt even have the chance to see them live. why ? because tarja was against performing in the united states because the concerts were to small. all in all to me nightwish is still the same with the songs and lyrics but there sound quality was lowered. if u like nightwish though some other bands to check out i think are

Allyptic
All Ends
Autumn
After Forever ( some heavy male vocals in this band just a fyi )
Crimson Tears
Edenvridge
Epica ( once again heavy male vocals just a fyi )
Kamelot
Nemesea
Northern Kings
Stone Sour
To-Mera
Within Temptation
Widescreen Mode
Tarja ( obviously lol)
Xandria

ill proably add more to this list later thats just whats on my itunes :) (!)

^^ I know the band is not only the person who's singing. But, to me, changing the vocalist makes a HUUUUGE difference because it's the vocalist that's gonna interpret the lyrics that were written by, in this case, someone else. And in terms of vocal quality Tarja is way superior compared to the new singer. Tarja had a more unique tone to her voice while the new singer has a very standard type of tone and the way she sings the songs dumbed down Nightwish's music. Even the lyrics arent as good as they were. Instrumental and arrangements wise, they got worse, less creative. They lost ther unique sound and became the same as every other band in the same genre.
I, personally, HATE this new album. I downloaded it, listened and got extremely disappointed.

From those you've listed...I know Kamelot, After Forever, Epica, Xandria and Within Temptation.
Not too keen on Xandria, same old same old. Kamelot only listened to a couple of songs and it was cool, I enjoyed it. After Forever, only listened to a few songs but I liked it very much as well.
Withint Temptation was great untill the Silent Force album. This new album is utter crap compared to their previous ones. Still there's a couple of songs I like.
