I have chronic space problems on my harddisk's system partition (using Windows XP here). Usually around only 200-300MB free. Now I recently deinstalled Java and I ran a disk cleaner which made a few MB free. Sometimes restarting Firefox frees up about 100MB as well.

I now was at around 450MB last time I looked at the bottom of the Explorer window. I went on gaming with MAME for the last two hours and just looked at the free space again. I suddenly have 1.1GB free.

I checked the trashcan to make sure I didn't delete anything by mistake.

How come I suddenly had 600MB freed up? :confused:

Sometime the computer can miscalculate the information. When I check my PC it says 20 GB then when I restart it says 21 GB. Its pretty confusing sometimes. Or when you open a software they can eat up a certain amount of space on your hardrive. When I open photoshop and some editing software it usually would eat up 200-300 mb depending on my project.

I didn't use Photoshop today and I don't have a boyfriend ;_;

I'm scared I might have a trojan though, despite running and checking with all possible security programs.

just a guess . Some programs , particularly games , can have huge basically empty temp files that they allocate and do not properly delete afterwards . Knew someone who always had a almost empty HD that became too full - ran a small disk use prog on it and found a temp file buried somewhere in the Windows directory that was huge , his nephew played a game on it .

Your computer may be stupidly backing up itself to your hard drive.

I TRIED to get into the game "World of Warcraft" -- and it AMAZED me HOW MUCH SPACE it took up...

So -- yeah, if you're a gamer -- I can TOTALLY understand you SPACE issues... :lol:

GLAD to hear that it mysteriously worked in YOUR favor!!! ..|
