Im back from galavanting across the western states. Saw a lot of gorgeous landscapes in Utah and Arizona, visited several parks in southern California, had the pacific ocean force its way down my gullet... yet as soon as I got home to my barren, cold, bland home - I felt like making love to Canadian soil... if only it wasnt so cold... so very very very cold.
Now that I am home I come back to a Canada in dire straits. The Flames have lost 10 of 12 road games. Near record snowfall for February. Harper is looking to increase his power in the house of commons, election looming. There is talk of the 2 left wing federalist parties joining forces... and apparently Calgary is raising its taxes.
I thought it was kinda interesting to come home to watch The National and see in depth reports on the situation refugees in Ethiopia face, and how Afghani people have adapted over the decades of conflict - this after watching news in the US - "and now we have a psychologist here to talk about Britney Spears state of mind when she discarded her wrapper and used kleenex" *2 hours later* "we now turn away from our top story to give you the latest in the anna nicole smith case"...

Who cares? Honestly? If you do care, then my friend you need dig your head out of the sand and see what kids in Darfur are going through and dying of. In North America our culture is that of ignoring problems and drowning them away.
