I think I have Herpes (and I'm freaking out)

I'm 21. A couple of weeks ago I had sex with a guy for the first time (this includes unprotected oral and protected anal). I had only met him that night. Even though I was really drunk, I noticed small pimple-ish lumps on his legs close to his penis. Because I was drunk I didn't really pay attention to them. Two days later I came down with flu-ish symptons, such as a sore throat, head-ache and muscle aches all over my body. After doing some internet research, I've discovered that these are early symptoms of Herpes Simplex Virus 1/2 or something, which cause herpes.

So I have a few questions. I've read that the sores associated with herpes occur directly on the genitals. This guy didn't seem to have any on his penis, only next to it. Would these still possibly be herpes? Am I freaking out unnecessarily and did I really just have the flu? If this guy has given me herpes, what's the best way to plot revenge considering he didn't warn me that he had it? ;) (I'm partially kidding on that last question)

I would be seriously pissed off if I got an STD from my first sexual experience.

Worried

It might not necessarily be Herpes.

It sounds more like syphillis to me.

Or you just have a cold.

Always protect yourself. No one is responsible for your safety except for you. Now go get tested!
it's not so much about protecting yourself as knowing your partner. even a rubber while oral would not have protected you if it's on his legs. we have all had one night flings and it would so suck if you caught something from it!hopefully it isn't herpes. this sounds sick but pray it's gonerea or syphillis cause those can be treated without the life time exposure.

There was a young man of Black Bay
Who thought syphilis just went away,
And felt that a chancre
Was merely a canker
Acquired in lascivious play.

Now first he got acne vulgaris,
The kind that is rampant in Paris,
It covered his skin
From forehead to shin,
And now people ask where his hair is.

With symptoms increasing in number,
His aorta's in need of a plumber,
His heart is cavorting,
His wife is aborting,
And now he's acquired a gumma.

Consider his terrible plight--
His eyes won't react to to the light
His hands are apraxic,
His gait is ataxic,
He's developing gun-barrel sight.

His passions are strong, as before,
But his penis is flaccid, and sore,
His wife now has tabes
And sabre-shinned babies--
She's really worse off than a whore.

He aches from his head to his toes,
His sphincters have gone where who knows,
Paroxysmal incontinence
With all its concomitants,
Brings forth unpredictable flows.

Though treated in every known way,
His spirochetes grow day by day,
He's developed paresis
Converses with Jesus
And thinks he's the Queen of the May.

And you think it will make him feel better. you have to see a doctor and have a final opinion on it. it is not here that yu will get a sure answer.:D Do not freak out. like one said it is just a reminder to us to always be protected.

*sigh*

This reminds me of a scene in that timeless classic, Mean Girls, where the gym teacher is lecturing the students.

"If you have sex, you will get chlamydia and you will die."

If you don't laugh you cry I guess.

Agree with Chris. Although I don't know that they can test for a recent herpes infection. If you develop skin lesions it is a bit easier to diagnose. But they could test for other STDs if you think that would make you feel better.

"Symptoms of herpes are called outbreaks. The first outbreak appears within 2 weeks after you become infected and can last for several weeks. These symptoms might include tingling or sores near the area where the virus has entered the body, such as on the genital or rectal area, on buttocks or thighs, or occasionally on other parts of the body where the virus has entered through broken skin."

^If you had symtoms 2 days latter then it's something else (but I am not a doctor). Got this off of a gov't website.

Just go to the doctor. Peace of mind is better than sitting around chewing your nails.

Agree - this speculation is pointless and dangerous, but it passes the time.

Go to a doctor who will diagnose it and treat it - we can do neither from here.

I Think The Best Way To Do Right Now Is Tell Someone If Ur Not Comforable Telling Someone . Go To The Doctor And Check , The Sooner U Know The Better And The Quicker U Can Get Treated. =] And Always Wear Condom Pleaseeeeeeee ..

No news yet, but I'm now wondering if I should ask this guy whether he is aware of any diseases he may have. Also, if I test positive for something, I should probably contact him and make sure he knows he has it, right? :(

I'm pretty sure it was just the flu, but no harm in stressing a little.

I have to agree with the possibility that it's razor burn. But it's always best to get yourself checked. Hopefully, it's just the flu and you'll be fine soon.

If you test positive for something yes by all means call him. We're thinking about you.

I think we're all a bit OCD about STDs, but really... I think you MIGHT just be projecting a bit?

Are you maybe feeling a little guilty or freaked that you let yourself finally have sex?

And yeah... the flu two days later? Probably the flu.

Get tested if you must, but it doesn't sound like you have much to worry about other than that OCD thing.

Oh.. and how was the sex?

It is perfectly normal to freak out. I remember getting crabs. I was doing laundry and was itching a bit so I decide to just strip off my underwear and toss them in the washer as well. I then notice something in my underwear and its moving! So I check my crotch and ugh! I lost my mf'ng mind. I cried because I knew nothing about STD's (catholic schooling) and assumed it was deadly. I did go immediately to the hospital and they practically laughed me out of the emergency room.
