I hope you don't mind but this could take some explaining.
So, I have a blog where I detail about my mental health struggles and I've been doing so since I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety a few years back. It's all been going fairly okay with the odd negative comment here and there but recently I got into a bit of an exchange with a company when I called them out for not respecting mental health and yet they donated money to mental health charities to make themselves look good. I got A LOT of abuse for doing that and a few people in particular (who worked for the company) harassed me on Twitter until I blocked them and told the company this wasn't how their employees should behave.
Now, before I move on I should say that I have never mentioned where I work on my blog, just that I work for a supermarket, and I go by a pseudonym so I don't use my real name.
Jump forward a few months and I get told at work that somebody has put a complaint in against me and my social media behaviour. Now, 90% of the customers at my work are very old/elderly and in this complaint the person was "too afraid to come into the store" because my "mental health made me unstable". They made wild claims that what I've written is like the manifesto of a mass shooter and that I have a "strange obsession" with one of the customers. (It's not a strange obsession, I just fancy him). This person even went back to posts I'd made in 2017 to support their wild claims. It's not impossible but it's unlikely this person was a local.
I had a little while of feeling stressed out about that but quickly forgot about it.
Until today.
Today I received a rather nasty comment on one of my blog posts from a random user that didn't bother me very much until they decided to end the post by calling me out by my real name, which is nowhere on my blog. Am I being crazy in putting these two things together and assuming they're the same person and if so then they've gone to a lot of trouble to find out my real name AND where I work.
Now, the real twist in the story is that the registered email address of this person matches the email address a person gave me a while ago but they were offering to help me with technical problems back then. Suddenly this same email address is calling me a fat, depressed loser.
As I type this I got another comment on my blog mere minutes after I posted a screenshot of the horrible comments on Twitter. Since I blocked and deleted their previous account they have created a new one using my username as their email address this time.
I'm beginning to get a little bit concerned as to the lengths this person is going to just to insult, abuse and bully me.
