For years Africans told African Americans "We don't do that gay shit" and "That's for western-minded colonized blacks" and "homosexuality is a European import."
Fast-forward to 2025: African "content creators" are all over social media twerking to afro-beats, thirst-trapping for men in skits where the premise is "any excuse to be in underwear and turn your cheeks to the camera." They're dressing in drag under the guise of comedy (because apparently there are no women comedians in the motherland to play these characters?) and most of these skits involve homoerotic physical slapstick humor where men are groping and grabbing and wrestling all over each other. My favorite subgenre: bodybuilding videos where they show off their strength by lifting other men or doing pushups with men on their back-- often times with a big ole woody bout to pop out of the phone and smack you in the face.
Next stop: the Caribbean islands!
