iBook and iMac

The iBook was the name of Apple's consumer market laptops before the Intel transition (they are now called Macbooks). The iMac is Apple's consumer market desktop (both PPC and Intel).

this is an ibook:

Thanks, Davy, and thanks, provenlogic, for your idiotic and uphelpful replies. I'm looking for an intelligent answer here, men, and instead you post smartass, unfunny answess that waste my time.

Hehehehehehehehe

I guess dummies are born every minute. Too bad, becaue i'm looking for helpful answers here.

uanightswimmer was very helpful, and thank God for him! The others appear to be in second grade.....

/\ dude! that was a really rude response. the folks in the tech forum go out of their way to help SO many people. insults like the crap you spewed forth will only cause people to stop helping.

you may not have gotten the reply's you wanted, but you're question was fairly open ended. you must not spend much time in the tech forum, otherwise you'd know that proven is one of the most helpful people in the forum. as for davy's photo response, that should have explained the difference to you. one is a laptop and one is a desktop.

Indeed that was the most immature response he could ever give. davy showed you what the difference was but yet again you put him down for his reply, nobody could of responded to your thread and you would of been left off looking for the answers on Google.

you're a funny one

you asked what the difference was between a laptop and a desktop and i showed you that the difference is that one is a laptop and the other is a desktop.

some people are never satisfied.

Davy showed me the difference between two laptop computers?? In fact, he showed me pictures of two laptop computers. Looked like laptop computers to me, and I coud see no difference at all.

Mike N. Herrin, I'm glad you found Davy's answer helpful. It was my question, and I found his answer completely unhelpful and, worse, "cute.". It surely didn't help me understand the difference between iBooks and iMacs at all!

UAnight swimmger's answer was clear and concise, and really answered my question. I'm very grateful to him.

Davey's first picture is of an iBook, which is a LAPTOP. Davey's second picture is of an iMac, it's a DESKTOP. You apparently mistook the second picture as a picture of another laptop, but it's not. uanightswimmer had already answered your question correctly, and davey provided you a picture of the two, in the same order as uanightswimmer's answer (i.e., first the IBook, then the IMac).

The problem is that you replied extremely rudely to at least one person who answered your question correctly, but which you misunderstood, and apparently you still don't understand the difference between the two photos. You could have asked davey for clarification rather than insulting him.

Look, it was a misunderstanding. I get that. But please don't respond that way. The second picture Davey posted shows you a monitor on a stand connected to a keyboard and mouse with a cable, that's what Apple's mac desktops look like now days. Here is another picture of an iMac (i.e., a desktop). The second picture show's you what an older iMac looked like, but without the keyboard and mouse.

how in the hell does that look like a laptop?!?!?!

Mike N. Herrin, I'm glad you found Davy's answer helpful. It was my question

your question was what's the difference between an ibook (a laptop) and an imac (a desktop). since both are made by apple and both contain, for the most part, identicle hardware; it was safe to guess that you didn't know that one was a laptop and one was a desktop. rather that than explain to you what a desktop was and then explain what a laptop was; i just showed you.

i guess a picture really isn't worth 1,000 words afterall.

The only unhelpful responses here are mine and Provens'. but I guess we are all allowed an irrational loathing. Mine is tomatoes his is apples.

This has to be the funniest thread EVER! :)

LOL gee. Some people just DON'T take jokes well do they????

I could have understood if he just replied to me, but he was even insulting the answer he asked for! A word of advice Ronn from NY, if you're going to bitch and moan at least know what the f*ck you're bitching and moaning about, it'd make you look like slightly less of an idiot.

Oh, and P.S. as some might have guessed from the subtle clues i've dropped over time, i'm not the *biggest* mac fan in the world, but even i know the difference b/w which is a laptop and which is a desktop . And they're still both fruit (!).

Thank you, Mike, and my apologies to Davy. What I got from Davy in his original post were two badly washed-out photos; it was precisely like showing the difference between and apple and an.... apple. There was no way I could have guessed that one was a desktop.

Again, my apologies, Davy, and my thanks for your help.

P.S. Provenlogic, I knew exactly and preciselywhat I was bitching and moaning about.

If those photo's looked washed out, i suggest you get a new monitor.

REALLY? No seriously, REALLY? You could have fooled me. Oh wait! You did! Wait, you're doing it again aren't you!? Trying to fool me into thinking you know what you were talking about!

There see we're all better! he apologized (at least to davey ;) ).

the pictures davey showed are sorta white on white if ya see what i mean. I actually thought that maybe that was part of the problem that maybe it was hard to tell on the iMac that the keyboard and stuff was separate. so i looked for another photo.

i think when a person says they are sorry that's a big step and restores my faith in the person a great deal. my first response was a bit heated so i apologize for that myself. things are so much more friendly when we all understand what we're saying. :)
