I went to Ritz Camera today and bought a new Casio CS slim digital camera. It cost $400. I get it home, charge the battery and notice there is no memory card in the camera or in the box. I call the store and spoke to the manager who also sold it to me. He says to me they don't come with a memory card. I askes why he did not tell me that, and this is his response: "I just presumed you knew they do not". I also told him that when I bouth my Nikon D70 from him last February it came with a card, my canon came with a card so why should I think this one would not. He says it is common knowledge that they do not now.

That essentially means he is calling me an idiot for buying it without the memory card. Now I have to drive 22 miles to go back there, so I may just as well return it and tell him to shove it up his f_____ing ass.

How can any salesman allow anyone to buy that without the card? That is incompetence as far as I am concerned.

Too bad they have no more comptetion around here. They suck for a camera store.](*,)

No ciruit city or best buy around? Most times if they dont have what you want they can order it, and I would expect for 400 it would come with someone to take the pictures for you.

Egad! How much does a memory card COST the company to supply? Three cents or something? Probably.

The packaging should AT LEAST say something like "memory card not included" (just as toys will often say BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED), but I can't believe this corporate mentality sometimes; they're offering a product that does not work!!!!

And WHY does Ritz not say something like "Your camera doesn't include a memory card, but we offer them over here..."? After all, it's something else they could sell. It's not like they're gonna take up a lot of shelf space or something.,

Corporations (and, I guess, even local camera stores) too often take their customers for granted. I agree with your feelings exactly, Paul.

No they really don't. Last week I purchased a Casio EXSLIM 10megapixil (slightly less then $400) and its awsome and so small for my trip. However I looked over the discription twice on Amazon to make sure that there was no memory card and there wasn't. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a 2gb memory card ONLINE. They're nearly half the price they are at Best Buy or Circut City, take a look and see for yourself.

But yes I'd be pissed too if I got it and it was never brought to my attention that a memory card wasn't included, because for every other brand you at least get a shitty memory card.

In an ideal world the package should state "memory card not included", the saleman should have reminded the customer and the customer should have done some research on the specific model in advance. Customer reviews and detailed catalogues are now available online and you can have an general estimate of alternatives available within your price range before going to the store. I´m sorry for your bad experience but consider some online research next time (and you can get better deals online eventually).

I've been a sales person and a memory card would have been the first thing I would have offered to go with your purchase. Not a very good salesman if you don't recommend products that you know the customer needs for their purchase.

I think you should take the thing back and tell him to shove it. Just for the attitude of thinking you should know it came without a card.

That is always the first thing they offer me when I go into Circuit City. I buy all of my electronics there and they're always some of the nicest sales people I've ever been around.

Is Ritz a small place? if not, you returning the camera won't hurt them.

I buy my memory cards at www.newegg.com or when they have a sale at Circuit City.

Well, to tell you the truth, I've never once used a memory card that came with a camera. Why? Because they (used to, apparently) provide absurdly small cards that could hold a half dozen pictures. Worse than worthless.

OTOH, he should've told you there's no card, Dynk, but you probably wouldn't've been happy with any card that did come with it.

Packaging does not state memory card not included.

I ended up using the extra memory card from my Nikon D 50 they are the same. It came with a 512.

Dynk, you have had more than your share of bad customer service lately. I know it sucks. If you're not in a hurry to use the camera, I would return it and remove all revenue they obtained from you. That's just me. You can find the same camera online and probably get a better price. If you want to PM me, I will tell you of some websites I buy from all the time with comeplete satisfaction.

Ritz is known as a shitty camera store. I'm not surprised. Are there not any not any independent photography stores in your area?

Either way, that's unfortunate about your camera mishap. Good luck with getting everything you need! :)

There are no more independant camera stores around here. Ritz has put them out of business. I also will never buy anything frome Best Buy and Circuit City they are eve worse. I don't know where I will get my new lens for my Nikon because I will never buy anything again from Ritz.

Thanks again guyz.

Dynk, you should definitely write a letter to the president of that company. Who knows, you might just come out of it with a nice little gift card or something to keep your business.
