...............I've never heard of the group Girls Aloud. I saw their new video for "Sexy! No No No" and I rather enjoyed it. I looked them up on Wikipedia and learned all about them. They're really beautiful looking girls and some of their songs are cool, and overall I think they all have really good voices.

Question: Do people over in the UK and abroad like them?? I didn't really get a feel from the articles I read if they're super popular or not.

From the comments I read on YouTube people don't really like this song or video but I really like it. I love the look of the video and the girls look really gorgeous with the leather outfits & the hair and makeup.

Girl Aloud "Sexy! No No No"

dont apologize because your American. if they think your a ignorant American because you ask a question that many people would ask than it's their fucking problem. just ask the fucking question next time.

Girls Aloud are a fabulous pop act. They are very popular in the UK. They've put out 3 albums and a greatest hits so far and just completed a sell out tour.

Albums :

Sound Of The Underground #2
What Will The Neighbours Say #6
Chemistry #11
The Sound Of Girls Aloud - Greatest Hits #1

Their singles and chart positions of those are here :

Yes, they're extremely popular in the UK. However, if you like them, I would strongly recommend you check out the Sugababes. They're another UK girl group that's even more popular and who don't have that reality show past weighing them down. They're a far better band, if you ask me. They're also just about to release a new album.

My favorite Sugababes song.

One from their former line-up.

They did a song with Girls Aloud, too.

They're both sortof like Mika. He was really popular over in the UK awhile before coming over the ocean to try his luck in the west. I'll bet they come over in the next couple years.

I don't see Girls Aloud being able to find much success here in the US. They're just too Spice Girls-esque for the American market. However, the Sugababes can easily be made into a more urban, hip-hop group and work their way into the US mainstream. Supposedly, they've worked with Timbaland and other big-name producers on their new album and they're going to release it here.

Mika wasn't 'popular' in the UK for that long before he went to the US. I think he'd only released "Grace Kelly" and "Love Today" in the UK before we managed to palm the moron off to the US.

Girls Aloud are completely a manufactured product of Xenomania (the team that writes and produces nearly all their songs) but what a fantastic product they are... if you like that sort of thing. Personally I think they have transcended the reality show past (leaving aside the fact that last year they did a documentary-style reality series). True, they aren't the best singers but neither are Madonna or Kylie and they've managed to do pretty well.

I don't want Girls Aloud or Sugababes (also fantastic, new single "About You Now" to premiere this Tuesday on BBC Radio 1 on Jo Whiley's show, you can listen online) to alter their sounds to appeal to a US market. Look at what happened to the Spice Girls' third album!

If the clip of About You Now says anything, it doesn't seem like they've made too drastic of a change.

Hey thanks for the vids! I downloaded the songs for the first two videos and I REALLY like the second song "Hole In The Head" -great song!!!

The third video was pretty cool. It looked like it was a big deal to have two groups like that come together for a project like that.

I wish Pop music here in the U.S. was as exciting as it is in the U.K.......

Lucky guys.

The video has lots of similarities with Christina's FIGHTER!

The director of the Girls Aloud video was Floria Sigismondi-who also directed Christina's "Fighter" video.

You can see the similarities between the videos:

1. The quick shots of the fluttery eyelashes
2. The poofy, flowy dresses
3. The use of "pins" in the videos
4. The quirky body movements
5. The use of red & black
6. The overall dark yet stylish look of the sets

Both great videos!

Girls Aloud look amazing on tour - you can see the clips from the What Will The Neighbours Say? and Chemistry tours on Youtube. They're better dancers than the Sugababes so GA tours sell better than the Sugababes', but GA don't sell as many records - draw your own conclusions.

I think Girls Aloud come second to Westlife (the Kings of Karaoke) for most cover versions. They are also guilty (along with Sugababes) of recording one of the worst cover versions ever, the classic Aerosmith/Run DMC song Walk This Way.

Well I have never heard of em either, I'm not an American either but it doesn't seem they are that hugely popular over this way...then again...I have fallen out of mainstream music haha....if this is what this is...

Um yes... let's skim over Walk This Way, it was a charity single and doesn't count...

Girls Aloud are pretty popular and have had a couple of hits but I don't know what the hype is all about. Their not that good. I like Sugababes better though, can't WAIT for their next album.

October 8! Less than two months away! I can't wait either. I really want to see the video for About You Now.
