I have almost 5 kilos of it.

Got it on sale at Price Chopper.

Cook it up. . . a spoonful of brown sugar. . . a sprinkling of ground cinnamon. . . some milk. . .

Yummy in my tummy!

(Mom bought me several boxes of that crappy instant oatmeal a long time ago. Tried one packet and that was it. Makes a half-decent spackel, though.)

Aw, c'mon -nothing wrong with a good bowl of oatmeal. I do prefer pinhead oats, but there's not a lot of difference. I feel almost obliged to add butter to make up for the cholesterol-fighting properties...

I wish I did, for my cholesterol's sake. I have to avoid sugar (because of the glucose), I don't like cinnamon, and I have an allergy to milk. Still, I bought some oatmeal and have not decided what to do with it. It's not instant, but it's not steel cut either, and I got it at the health food store. Maybe I'll make granola out of it.

icky i say

Great wisdom from the man who cut class today, and is now waiting in line for his Harry Potter book. Not too bad I say.
Oatmeal is a great source of many nutrients the body needs.
Way to go man, if you are afraid it will spoil, try freezing it in freezer containers. (!)

I bought a bag of oatmeal last week. It got infested with mealy bugs. Didn't notice 'til I was halfway through a cooked bowl of breakfast.

ps. I'm glad you like oatmeal too

Hope it doesn't happen to you.

Can you eat peaches???

Its REALLY GOOD with peaches... :D:D:D

Not sure if they have glucose or not...:confused::confused:

Eating must be DIFFICULT for you... :(:(:(

My mom would boil some spices with water before cooking the oatmeal

Cinammon
Cloves
Star Anise
ginger

then she would cook the oatmeal with sugar (brown or otherwise)
and coconut milk

it wasn't the healthiest, but boy was it good!!!

BTW she did that with all warm cereals, its basically her recipe for Arroz con dulce!

Get some fresh berries and add them to the bowl and mix it all together. You know, like strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries. They're great with oatmeal.

I'll have to try the peaches that Gentry suggested.

PreTTy PeTe needs some oatmeal fixed, "ala Ron", with olive oil, salt and pepper!

I'll fix it for breakfast the morning after we cause major havoc in the cosmic universe by sleeping together! (hehehe!)

Love ya' PeTe!

Use castor oil instead of olive oil and you won't have to sleep together to cause major havoc in the cosmic universe!!

In Ireland, the tradition is to eat it with buttermilk. I love buttermilk, but I've never tried that. It just seems wrong for some reason.

I LOVE it with Rasberries...

But I'm not sure where glucose comes from -- and he said he was allergic to that...

I also like it with apples and cinnamon...

But he didn't like cinnamon...

I still remember seeing an interview on tv (years ago) with a 100 and something year old woman...

She said she ate oatmeal EVERY day...

Its GOTTA be GOOD FOR YOU!!!

(!)(!)(!)

I love oatmeal, it really is good for you.

But I only buy the old-fashioned oats, the one that you have to cook for 5 minutes. The packets and the quick oats either have too much sugar or too little fiber. One teaspoon of brown sugar is all I need to add (and water of course)! ..|

I really like MAYPO instant oatmeal, but it has become extremely hard to find. ("I want my Maypo!!!")

Pretty much ANY of the instant oatmeals that are out there - among those I've tried at least - were not to my liking. Many of them are far too sweet for my tastes. I'll use the unsweetened and add my own sugar (OR NOT), thank you...

Maypo?!! I haven't had Maypo since I was 8. YUMM. I really used to love it. THat's why I drizzle a tablespoon of maple syrup on my oatmeal. Maybe this would help Pretty Pete to eat his oatmeal, too!

I do love Oatmeal served sweet. But sometimes I like savoury version. Add Chopped Toasted Walnut, Garlic Olive Oil, & Parmesan. Yum!
