First, I'd find a new doctor. If he can't find any physiological basis for ED, but has no suggestions for treatments, then I don't think he's taking your problem seriously enough. Chronic impotence at age 27 just ain't normal.

Talk to your doctor about your testosterone levels. A simple blood test will be helpful to determine a course of action. There are numerous treatments to raise the level to the desired number. You may have other issues (diabetes for one) that may be affecting your sex drive.

I agree with rareboy--get a second opinion. If you have the insurance or the money, it might not hurt to go to a urologist either.

The suggestions by all above are good. Seek another opinion for another doctor, etc. ED can happen to anyone at any age, it is not just for us older guys!

Since there appears to be on physical reasons, then I am guessing your testosterone is the problem, but I am not a doctor. See another doctor if possible.

Let us know what happens. Good luck mate!

I had this problem and am continuing to deal with at 21. I'm currently on testosterone and its helped alot. Get you testosterone checked, your thyroid function, and also iodine levels checked. Yes that's right iodine. Back in the 80's they stopped using iodine to leaven bread and began using bromide. Bromide interferes with iodine absorption and lack of iodine can cause a crappy thyroid and will result in fatigue, nervous sleep, mental fog, and impotence The problem doctors run into is those sypmtoms just mentioned appear due to low iodine, testosterone, and underactive thyroid. Are you tired? Is your sleep really deep or do you have trouble sleeping like a log?
If a doctor prescribes you viagara or tells you its in your head IMMEDIATELY go to another doctor. I had to go through three doctors before one said I had low testosterone. All the other jackasses wanted to give me viagara to give me back my "confidence". If you are overweight or don't excercise much you should begin walking or bicycling for an hour every day and reduce your portions of food. This will lower your blood pressure and get your circulatory system going.
Also start taking 3 grams of Arginine a day
150 mg of Pycnogenol (you'll find this at GNC-its as expensive as gold but it works)
1,000mg of Horny Goat Weed w/macca and an additional 1,000mg an hour or two before sex
the above medications together will raise your nitric oxide levels naturally, Viagara does something very similar but it doesn't feel the same.
not to mention viagara can increase your chances of blindness, sterility.

Finally go to the post office and buy several lick style stamps not self adhesive and
form a chain of these stamps together and wrap it around your penis when you go to bed. If in the morning the stamps are not broken you have not had any nightime erections which means its not psychological. Report this to a doctor to keep them from telling you its in your head.
good luck hopefully you will get better results than I did but I can't complain.

Haha, good way to get put into the psych ward. If some guy told me his penis didn't break his stamp ring at night, I'd probably be inclined to call him crazy.

if you insist on being so ignorant you could at least type stamp test and erections into google to see.

no, psychologists actually use that test as a means of testing whether or not a patient is having nighttime erections. there are medical devices that can also do the job, but they're expensive, so the stamp method is more commonly used. i've heard about this in several of my psych classes.
