I think I've been busy for one hour now just to create the outlines of a sketch I've drawn. Inkscape already crashed once during this time when I was manipulating some nodes, like it always does - luckily I saved right before.

The interface sucks, well, just about everything of Inkscape. I draw a line with a thickness of 8 pixels, then draw another one, yet the thickness is back to 1 pixel.

There's so much wrong with this program, but as it's pretty much the only free vector program, I'm stuck with it :grrr:

drawplus SE is free .. but only if you don't need layers or autotrace ;)

And again it crashed :grrr:

I have the free version of Drawplus installed, but it doesn't support SVG format.

And the third crash.

It's just a few strokes, like a cheap comic drawing, not thousands of details, but it's already too much for Inkscape.

One of the worst things about this piece of shit:
There are no different stroke and brush shapes.

I use it on OSX Leopard for the company ID cards and it has been relatively stable running under x11 but i'm sure if I tried it under Snow Leopard that it would crash. I am considerably less than happy with Snow Leopard in terms of stability and compatibility :(

I think it's not that bad on Linux, but the Windows port is piss-poor. It doesn't use the standard GUI because it's based on GTK, there's a lot of wasted free space in between icons and buttons, it crashes randomly as I already wrote, it doesn't properly support graphic tablets and there are many more usability mistakes.
