Insert Youtube Video Into Posts

There is a new code when doing a new post or advanced reply for inserting YouTube videos.

If you want to insert YouTube video, just click the
youtube.gif
button which will add the YouTube tags.

Then between the tags you will insert the code for the video.

For instance if the link to the video is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQFcWMcY-FE

Then you would place only the JQFcWMcY-FE code between the YouTube tags.

Sounds great Seth. I'm on a dialup, though, for the time being, and it can take videos a long time to load. If I start downloading an embedded video, that means I can't surf away from that page until it's finished.

Oh wait, I guess I could always just open another tab. Never mind.
 
That's going to be a bit of a pain for anyone (like me) who is on limited download bandwidth.
 
I'm having one of those post icons created that says "You Tube". Then if someone posts a YouTube vid they can designate it and you can avoid that thread.

As an aside..

16.22% of JUB users are on Dialup while 83.78% are on broadband. That probably doesn't help you feel any better though :)
 
I think flash video should be pretty fast. Did it take long to see the one above in my example?

I think that would be an excellent idea.

I keep thinking of the threads where there are a number of YouTube links on each page. That could take some serious downloading to load the entire page.
 
Do we really need to embed the vids into the post? I think it's sufficient to just have a link.

But that's just me.

An astute observation, if I may say so. But as a matter of fact, I download videos from YouTube all the time. It just goes on in the background while I do something else, which is usually JUB.

Of course, another possibility here would be to also include the YouTube link in the post, as we've done in the past. Then I can open that in another window and I don't have to have 2 JUB windows.

Couple of minutes, but that's a short video. BUT there's a couple of other things I noticed: all the YouTube context is missing. That means there's nothing telling you how long the video is, or any of the other goodies like comments from YouTube viewers, number of views, who originally posted it, all that kind of information. AND there's no link to youtube.com so I could get that information for myself.
 
I've added the posticon for YouTube. I also flagged this thread with that posticon as an example for others.
 
It would be slightly better and easier if we could copy & paste the full URL instead of just the video's filename.
