I wouldn't say I'm an insomniac, but I do tend to stay up too late LOL especially the past few weeks.
Plus I've been spending too much time here which doesn't help with the late nights
(I might have to ban myself from this site)

Oh and that is a creeepy .GIF
(but owls are creepy anyway with the way they stare at things)

I used to have it, hated it, now I take ambien and love it.

Quite the insomniac here unless I go out a lot/ exercise that day. Mostly due to school works and assignments but my brain is so used to sleeping late now #-o

Mine is fairly bad. I seem to have 30 hours days such that I rotate sleeping during the whole day once a week.

I have the radio in my bedroom tuned to BBC Radio 4. At night they broadcast the BBC World Service. I'd challenge anyone to listen to that and remain conscious!

I have periods of insomnia. There are times when I know I'm not going to end up sleeping so I just get up. There are other times I'll 'lie it out' in bed as I try to go to sleep

Today I went to sleep at 9:30 am and slept til 4 pm. I didn't sleep at all the night before

"Selective insomnia" is a bit of an oxymoron. Insomnia is the inability to sleep when you want to.

I stay up late and sleep pretty late. I was always a night owl, but my job makes it worse. For the past 2 years, I've had jobs were I didn't have to be in the office until 3 PM most days. There was a time when I did some morning shifts when I got promoted last year and another time when I did morning shifts for a part time job I did for a few weeks, but generally I don't get up until noon or 1 PM.

I'm thinking of volunteering in the AM to force myself to go to bed and get up earlier.

hmmmm

Not good guys.

I used to have insomnia and it was literally wearing me out by the time I reached 50.

You need to:

Cut out caffeine.
Cut out sugar after 6 pm
In fact don't eat for at least 4 hours before sleeping.
No alcohol within 6 hours of sleeping
No msg...this one is a sleep killer for sure
Get the TV and the computer out of your bedroom.
and if all else fails....Trazadone.

I got my life back thanks to getting a good 6 - 8 hours of sleep most nights.

Reading a few minutes does it for me. Since it is a passive activity, it does not use the parts of the brain used in active thinking and allows the active brain to shut down. If you do not read, you will be actively thinking, and it takes longer. I am not sure any neuroligist would agree with my analysis, but it works for me. If you have not tried reading in bed, give it a try. History works best.

It's 2:32 AM and I'm watching this episode of The Comic Strip from 1983.

Have no idea if this is an oiginal concept or a movie parody.
