Ok so I've been lurking through other people's fitness tracks, and I've decided to get my tail in gear and try to do the same. Codeerror's thread made me realized that through taking pictures of myself working out/running and cuttin back with a diet can help out. of course, i know my body is completely different than his, everybody's is different, but I'm puttin myself out there, and I'm hoping to get back in shape.

Backstory:
During high school, I played football and tennis. I was in great shape and I had a decent body to back it up. Now that I'm in college, I've let the partyin get to me a lil too much and I packed on a few too many pounds. So now that its my second year, I've decided to go ahead and get back into shape

Plan:
I've always ran, I love to do it. Something so free about it, not too mention its a great way to feel good. I'm going to start running further distance. I went to the gym lightly over the summer, but I couldn't ever find motivation to keep myself going back for more. I need alot of self-discipline I know, so I'm hoping that seeing myself through others eyes can be a good backbone. My plan right now is to pick up the running again, going further. I'm also planning on taking advantage of the university's recreation center to work out, and to try to get a good body back. I've started cuttin back on the high fat foods, as well as letting go of the heavy snacks and cokes. I'm just trying what I know at the moment

I'm not sitting here saying I know what I'm doing. I've been told I have potential to have a great body, and I'm sick and tired of just sitting around and not doing a thing about it. So any advice would be great to know....I've heard of some vitamins and stuff to take to help provide the body with natural fat-burners and of certain foods to eat. I don't want to bulk up, I just want to burn the fat, and tone up. I'm going to take pics soon to give yal a lil insight as to where I'm starting from and hopefully some advice on what I should focus on.

You've got a good mesomorphic frame. You should do very well.

Don't forget to get a tape measure and get baseline measurements.

First of all I'm thrilled to see that my thread actually helped someone!
Taking pictures is a great way to check your progress. My guess is that you'll look great in no-time. As said, you have the genetics and whats even better; You seem motivated...|

For the diet I'd go with more protein, less fat. It's very difficult to bulk up on protein alone, because the body uses much energy to burn it.
Eggs (Cooked and raw), chicken, turkey and tuna are great protein sources.
I would consider taking a multi-vitamin, and possibly a Omega 3-6-9 supplement.

Codeerror, any particular vitamins you'd recommend. Not exactly want to bulk, just get toned some
 
Most vitamins are important, they all have a role in making your body function properly.

Find yourself a good multi-vitamin with Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, Vitamin B1(2,6,12), Vitamin K1, niacin and folic acid. If there's minerals and more vitamins in it, thats great.

To get toned, I'd eat like I said. More protein, less fat.:-)
 
OK so its been about two weeks and thought id give a lil update:

So I've been runnin at least 3 miles everyday. I'm startin to notice myself slimmin up "some" but not immediate results (I'd be shocked to see big results this soon anyhow). I am notcing that I have more energy and stamina now, and feel like I'm gettin plenty of deep rest because of this too. My diet has been pretty steady. Ive come off the cokes completely now (which was a hard thing to ween myself off of), but I did it. Its mostly been water or else soy milk. I've also been cuttin back on the junk food, and more into the fresh foods. I eat fruits more often now, and in the mornin I get up and actually make a good breakfast now.

So I'm hopin to stick with this and hopefully more results will follow. Wish me luck as i continue this yall!

Glad you're starting to feel the effects- you're a couple of weeks in, so you should start to see some of the benefits now.
 
OK OK, so i've been incredibly busy with school (tests, papers, projects, yadda yadda) so I've not had to time to update y'all on what all is going on. So here it goes

Well I've been doing the same routine but have kicked everything up a notch now. Instead of 3 miles, I do four...instead of weight liftin with this much, i went up some pounds...instead of doing just so many sets of certain at-home cardio and strength building routines, I increased the sets and numbers. So things are again startin to get rough, which is a good sign that I'm still challenging my body and that clearly something is working.

The diet portion is still going strong. Like I said the last post, I've quit the sodas completely, all water or milk now. I've cut back on the junk food and have been eating more meals (smaller portions) throughout the day (between classes or whatnot). So things are still going.

I promise I will take more pictures soon to give yal an idea of where I am. I went home a couple of weekends ago and I left it there so it may be awhile before I can get anything goin. Until then, wish me luck, and keep coming back!
