I did an intense french kissing with a hook up, got a terrible sore throat and a herpes bump near the lips (verified by my doctor) 2 days later.

What I mean intense:

1) Lasted for a few hours with several intervals in between
2) Licking and sucking of each other's tongue
3) Swallowing each other's saliva

It's been a month and my sore throat/bump recovered. However I do noticed there is a certain smell coming from my throat, sometimes it smells a little fishy, could it be that I got something else from him? Planning to go to the STD clinic next month for a full test just to be safe but is there a test for a throat swab for perhaps an STD? Please advise.

"smells a little fishy" meaning infection?
Ask doctor for anti-biotics or something

What you're describing is very typical of what often happens when you start dating someone new. We all have a unique variety of ordinary bacteria and it's not uncommon to have a mild cold-like reaction anytime you make-out with someone new. It seldom requires antibiotics unless the person carries a type of bacteria that causes disease- like some types of streptococcus or chlamydia.

It's also not uncommon to reactivate a dormant herpes infection after a make-out session.

There's not really a need for a full STD check unless you've been sexually active. If you're still having a sore throat or other symptoms, a simple throat swab will determine whether you have something that requires treatment.

I was thinking about that too, as I read that people have millions of bacteria and germs in their saliva.

I took antibiotics for the sore throat as it become infected, so the guy probably has something going on in there, god knows whose dirty dick has he sucked in the past.

My throat seems to be more sensitive now though. Need to check if the STD clinic does throat swab.

Hopefully it will be ok. It is interesting when people go to other countries not just third world such as Mexico they get ill from drinking the water. Most times there is nothing wrong with the water it is just bacteria our body never experienced maybe it is similar but you are right to check it out.

Beware also mononucleosis, sometimes called the kissing disease, can cause the spleen to swell, risk rupture thereof. I think some people have an immunity against it, otherwise it sticks forever living I think (THINK) in the spleen (kidneys too if I recall).

That is scary, I did get a sore throat 2 days after the encounter. It did improve after antobiotics but not fully recovered until about 2 weeks later.

Sometimes my throat smells like unwashed foreskin(fishy) could it be an STD.

I'm no doctor, I'm only aware of mono because a doctor wanted to test me for it, came negative for me thank goodness.
Mononucleosis is also a viral infection, so if antibiotics helped, it probably wasn't mono, but worth getting tested.

This seems familiar.

O!
Few tips for those who hook up and kiss strangers: Make sure you're lips are not cracked (use lip balm), try to not swallow during, rinse out your mouths, salt water helps especially, mouthwash should not be the first thing you use, rinse thoroughly (not just "sip, whish, spit, done"), and well . . . Oh I'm sure this subject's been posted here before, anybody wanna add on?

I just want to bring this thread back to life. I love intense making out. Especially for the last few years. I have become more interested in mouth play and tounge work lately. This is interesting to learn about. Please keep offering questions and answers. The mouth and tounge are amazing tools in a show of affection. It is important to know about any risks.
