So, I had a substitute in my classroom today because I was at an inservice on our NCA accreditation process. My partner in crime and I felt really overwhelmed and out of place. At lunch, Shanna sat with us (she's a former teacher in the building that moved into a position at central office).
We expressed our fears and Shanna mentioned several things. First, if our principal didn't trust and respect us, he wouldn't have asked us to take these positions. Next, she told us that the assistant superintendent (our former principal) is proud that two of his favorite teachers are taking on the task. And then Shanna also told us that she was sorry that she was no longer at our school because she would love to work side by side with us and that she was sorry that she let another teacher dictate her friendships while at the building. Shanna had tears in her eyes; I couldn't help it, I had to hug her.
Then we changed the subject and tried to figure out who would be each of the Steel Magnolias. Yep, I'm Weezer... give me a few years and I'll be growing tomatoes and wearing funny hats.
