iPhone 4 vs HTC Evo 4G animation

That was hilarious.

BUT

I'm still getting an iphone 4. The white one.

The guy who made this video, 25 y.o. Brian Maupin from Kansas City, Missouri, works for Best Buy selling phones. He's been doing it for three and a half years.

Best Buy is probably going to fire him over this video. They have asked him to resign, but he has refused. Maupin is now on "indefinite" suspension. Although Best Buy is never mentioned in the video and Maupin is not identified on YouTube as the author, Maupin says "They felt it disparaged a brand they carried (iPhone/Apple) as well as the store itself and were fearful of stockholders & customers being turned off to Best Buy Mobile."

Stupid Best Buy.

That's awesome!

If I were Apple or Google, I'd be snappin' that guy up real fast.

My own suspicion is that Apple has a hand in Maupin's suspension/firing.

This incident sounds a lot like the "stolen" iPhone prototype incident. In that incident, Apple petitioned California's Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team to raid the home of Jason Chen (of Gizmodo) while he was out. They seized his home computer to collect evidence on behalf of Apple, which is pursuing damages against Gizmodo. Steve Jobs says Apple was grievously harmed by Gizmodo's article on the prototype.

Maupin's video pretty effectively argues the benefits of the HTC EVO over the iPhone. It has probably sold quite a few EVOs. Last I checked, the video had had almost two million viewers on YouTube. I don't imagine that Apple is pleased.

Maybe HTC will hire him.

^ Sorry, my "awesome" was referring to Jake, the dude dual-booting Android on his iPhone.

Re: the OP, frankly, if an employee generated 2 million hits that dissed any product a major retailer sold, I'd expect him or her to be fired. No doubt if the vid was about Samsung TVs or HP computers it would mean the same thing to his employer: he's denigrating a product they sell.

The suggestion that Apple is involved in some conspiracy to have him fired sounds unlikely. If anything, his martyrdom will just give the video more traction. Considering they can't make enough phones to satisfy ever-increasing demand (almost 2 million phones in the first week!) I doubt they really care very much.

I thought The Driod X was poised to shit on both these phones?

That phone looks amazing.
