ok so recently i bought a new Ipod, but it suddenly started cutting off the songs halfway into the song. i took out the songs and then tried putting them back in (i know bad idea), but now it wont let me put any songs into it, and it just tells me a bad network. I tried doing everything the itunes website told me to fix it, but it still wont work. does anyone know what i can do?

I am guessing that you still have these songs available on your machine?

It sounds to me like you have a corrupt database on your Ipod - therefore I would suggest linking up to itunes - right clicking, and restoring the favctory settings for the Ipod

All songs and settings will be wiped off the player, and you can start again as if it the Ipod was brand new :)

thats what i've tried doing today, but now not all of the songs want to go in it. it'll just freeze up and tell me its having problems putting songs to a disc

hmmm, i would suggest a re-install of itunes might be required- unless you have another machine you could try it on?

out of interest do these songs play without problem through i-tunes

and will they transfer ok to a different location on your machine

e.g if you cope them from my music to the desktop

In the past I've had to go into the ipod's file structure and corrupt it manually so itunes won't recognise it and will force a restore.

Naah, it's not hard.

Don't eject the ipod before closing itunes.

Open-up the ipod as a hard drive under my computer and delete everything.

Start itunes and allow it to rebuild the ipod.

you know what i've never thought of that. its a good idea!

is it possible to put the songs in the ipod through the hard drive.

it is possible, but not recommended

you have to chage the filenames on them so that the ipod can read them correctly

an alternative would be to see if winamp has any further luck - as i beliee that it now supports ipods

if i remember correctly then the ipod apperas in the left hand menu of the media library - and you can simply hit the sync button - or drag and drop files from the media library to the ipod

ideally i would un-install itunes before trying it.

Return it under warranty to where you purchased it from
