Superhero movie "Iron Man" pounded the competition at North American box offices for the second straight weekend, landing at No. 1 with just over $50 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates. "Iron Man" has earned more than $171 million so far.

The movie about a comic book superhero in a high-tech suit of armor blasted past two new entries, family adventure "Speed Racer" and romantic comedy "What Happens in Vegas," which both posted about $20 million in ticket sales.

Saw the movie last night - IT WAS GREAT! Can't wait for the next one.

Did you tremendously enjoy it? Were your joyously overwhelemed. Or were you mildly entertained, and seen better?

Tremendously enjoy it?... I wouldn't go that far.

Let's just say the movie overflooded my senses, so I guess that fits your "joyously overwhelemed" description.

And the "seen better" option is irrelevant because the visual experience offered by the Wachowski is like nothing anybody has seen before. You can trust me on this.

I'm glad this empty potential franchise is DOA.

Anyone who's surprised.... I'm gonna virtually smack them upside the head. it's IRONMAN vs some retarded car movie, and Ashton Kutcher..... guess who will win every time??

'Speed Racer' comes in 3rd as 'Iron Man' maintains grip.

Warner Bros.' "Speed Racer" downshifted to third place in its debut weekend with $18.6 million in box-office receipts while Marvel Studios' "Iron Man" kept a lock on first with $51.2 million in ticket sales.

The Wachowski brothers' anime-inspired racing movie came in about $1.6 million short of studio estimates Sunday, finishing way behind expectations. The studio, owned by Time Warner Inc., said the movie would have a tough time covering its $120 million budget.

"What Happens in Vegas," 20th Century Fox's comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, meanwhile pulled down $20.2 million for second, slightly above estimates made early Sunday.

"Iron Man," which stars Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, saw revenue slip a respectable 48 percent from its opening weekend, bringing its domestic sales to a total of $177.8 million. The film is being distributed by Paramount Pictures.

^^^Haha Warner Bros lied about the box office!!

Paramount also lied about Iron Man's 100 mil opening weekend. I guess it made 98 mil but hey who's counting??

I can't believe Ashton's romantic comedy beat the Wachowski's Speed Racer haha!!
