Is Drake “John Black” Hogestyn heading to ABC Daytime?!

During General Hospital today, there was a commercial for soap opera magazine “ABC Soaps In-Depth” , and it plugged the Jason, Elizabeth, Lucky, and Sam storyline. However, when they showed the cover they had the “ABC Daytime: Comings and Goings” section and it featured two pictures:

Going: Nathaniel Marston (ex One Life To Live Dr. Michael McBain)

Coming: Drake Hogestyn (ex Days Of Our Lives John Black)

I loved “fake” Roman Brady/John Black on Days of our Lives in the mid 80s (I also loved Bo and Hope and the song, “tonight I celebrate my love to you“, I would come home from school and eat Celery and Peanut Butter and watch Days of our Lives with my Mom and my Aunt. Drake Hogestyn’s John Black was killed off of Days of our Lives in October of this year, and his contract expires sometime this month. If Drake Hogestyn does in fact join ABC Daytime, what soap do you think he could/would be joining?! It should be noted, Drake’s step-son Ben Hogestyn played the role of Lucas Jones, the openly gay son of the General Hospital’s legendary Nurse, Bobby Spencer!

Also note that in early 2007, General Hospital head writer Robert Guza began hinting at a return for Lucas Jones in the soap press, leading to unconfirmed speculation that Ben Hogestyn would return to "General Hospital" before the year is out. (It fit’s the storyline with the death of Georgie)

Yah I think I saw a headline saying something like" Is John Black really dead? In soapland where there's smoke there's usually a dead person coming back to life. Rumors are floatin that the actress who played Dixie on AMC is returning even though we know she died, we saw her get buried. That's the soaps.

that's what I'M talkin about. i couldn't understand why everybody was so upset over his dismissal. he's not even hot...well not HOT, hot--i mean i wouldn't say no if i had the chance......

Sometimes, even though people aren't the best actors, they just have a genuine likeability that comes through in their scenes. Drake is a good representation of that. Also, despite his lack of great talent, he has a fantastic chemistry with Deidre Hall -- physically and otherwise -- that has kept the character interesting over the years.

I haven't given two shits about John Black in years, though. However, I have to say, his death earlier this year was HEARTBREAKING. That series of episodes was the best stuff I had seen on Days in ages.

it's not that i actively dislike him or anything...he just kinda bugs me.

His clenched vocal delivery makes him the William Shatner of daytime.Really attractive guy,but not the greatest technical actor in the world,to put it as kindly as possible.
