I just need to know what you all think about this:

my male friend has a phobia of going to hospitals/doctors/needles, all of that, even though his dad has always been a doctor/surgeon. well a couple nights ago a bunch of friends got together and he talked about how one time he had pain in his balls and he was too afraid to go to the hospital, so he got his dad to check them....

is this not weird??????? both the son and dad are totally straight and of course nothing sexual happened. but i think it's weird anyway. maybe i'm the one whose weird. i just know i'd never want my dad feeling around down there.... yikes

Seems perfectly sensible to me.

When doctors examine testicles, they aren't "feeling about" - they are using their knowledge and skills to diagnose a problem (i.e. cancer, infection).

Better than having a daughter..
And have to go muff diving!!!!

eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Doesn't sound weird at all.
His dad put his doctors hat on and that was that.
Honestly, a doctor thinks nothing about which body part he is examining. It's just his job.

I'm with the 'not weird' group. I'm happy to hear that the guy had SOMEONE to go to with his problem that got by his fears.

I don't think it's weird at all. The father is a professional who treated his son as another patient.

...I'd think it'd be more awkward if the son had some type of piercing there.
Dad: "What the...? When the hell did you get this?"

I think it's not weird because of the combination of him being a Doctor, and this guys Father. It is some one who is really close to him, some one he knows he can trust.

i agree, the trust factor is a BIG contributor.

I would find that a little weird. But just a little. I mean, it makes sense and all, a doctor is a doctor; but I grew up with much more stringent physical boundaries, and nobody in my family has touched me below the belt since I was potty-trained, or even seen my "privates" since I was about five.

But not every family is like that. I remember, back in Boy Scouts, being amazed when a fellow trooper told us all how, upon returning from a camping trip where there might have been ticks in the trees, his mother gave him a thorough going-over, even looking into his rectum with a flashlight to make sure no ticks had lodged there. I can't imagine letting anyone in my family do such a thing... in fact, I think I'd have to be sedated to let my doctor do it (I still haven't quite recovered from my first prostate exame a year and a half ago... oh my boundaries!)
