Professional Hoodrat
As many of you know, I'm a surgical nurse in a rather small private hospital. Last night my big fear became a reality.
We had a family hit head on by a drunk driver. The mother was killed instantly, the father is in extremely critical condition, and the 11 year old girl is going to be fine. There was a 6 year old little boy, who was so badly injured and was taken to
surgery immediately after arriving in the emergency room.
His little body was so badly injured, that there was really nothing the doctors could do, and we lost him on the table.
This hit me so hard, I broke down in the operating room, and managed to hit the showers where I sobbed and questioned how unfair life can be sometimes.
I feel bad, that I was not able to maintain any degree of professionalism
at the time it happened. I have experienxed losing many adults on the table, but this was my first child.
I think I just needed to vent a little guys, thanks for allowing me.

Just had to vent a little...thanks for allowing me
man...that is just horrible. hope you're ok...i don't know how you guys do it. my mom is an R.N. and she quit working at hospitals and now works as a counselor at a woman's shelter because she found the shelter so much less depressing...she was just so exhausted mentally after seeing what you saw here for over 20 years. hope you know that you make a difference and that that knowledge gets you thru all this
.
