It would have been too easy to just say yes.

The other night i went out to a bar with a few of my friends. they are all having troubles with their boyfriends, so i get to be the substitute for the real thing so they can dance and my presence generally wards off any sleazebags.

However, one of my girls and me had just decided to go sit down for a bit and get a drink. As i am walking behind my friend this guy appears out of no where and asks me if i want to dance with him. I didn't know what to say, the bar i was at wasn't the kind of place you would typically see guys dancing with guys. I thought he was some straight guy trying to have a joke so i dismessed him and walked off, and regretted it immediately.

I tried finding him later on to see if i could correct the situation, but it seemed like he was ignoring me. One thing that ticks me off the most is that i think i have seen him at the uni i go to. Gah i feel so stupid.

Don't fret! Plus if he goes to your university, then you are bound to see him again! If its meant to happen, its meant to happen ;-)

Plus you could ask the girl you were with if she knows him/if she could forward the question you wanted to ask him should she ever see him!

"Seemed like"? Meaning what? You kinda got near him hoping he'd approach you again? He tried that once, and you dismissed him (your words). Why would he make another move?

Ball was in YOUR court. You should've gone up to him and said "If you were serious about wanting to dance with me, I think that'd actually be pretty cool."

oh well, you can still try to save this by saying something along the lines of "...uh, hey. i know this is a little strange. but that night? i totally regret that i didnt dance with you. i just said no because i panicked. but... would you like to have some coffee sometimes?"

I know what my words were. I totally handled the whole thing stupidly, it was the first time a guy had shown any interest in me, which i was expecting to have happen in a bar that is doesn't have a reputation for being gay friendly.

Agreed. Or just say "You totally caught me off guard by asking me to dance, and I didn't know what to say. Next time, I'm definitely going to ask YOU." :)
