I'm not sure how long i've had this but sometimes (especially during the winter and summer) my head and body get really itchy when i get hot. it can be from working out, taking a hot shower, staying in the sun, drinking/eating something hot, exercising or whenever my body temperature rises (rarely it happens when i'm jacking off).

i get a prickly sort of feeling (like pins sticking my skin) and can't stop itching until I cool down. I don't need to get that hot too. i could be outside for maybe 10 minutes and then it starts happening. i don't think sweat is the problem because the prickly feel starts happening before i barely start breaking a sweat.

i've looked around the interweb and i've found that it's probably something called Cholinergic Urticaria. The symptoms are visible hives (sometimes called heat bumps) that appear as a multitude of small welts, but i don't get that. The only thing I get is the red marks from me scratching that go away once i cool down. it doesn't happen year round so i'm guessing that since it's summer and i haven't gotten a haircut yet, that's what causes my body to heat up and get itchy. I've had this for a while and it's really annoying

Does anyone have the same problem, know what is causing this, or how to prevent it?

It does sound like cholinergic urticaira.

It's a very rare condition and it is difficult to find practitioners who are familiar with it.

There are two modes of treatment- an anticholinergic (which has a tendency to make people drowsy) or an antihistamine (of which there are non-sedating options available).

You might try taking an antihistamine like Zyrtec or Allegra to see if it helps. Otherwise, you may need to see an allergist or neurologist at a teaching clinic.

It could also be common heat rash since you don´t develop the hives seen if it was urticaria.

Miliaria - or Heat Rash - Google or wiki it gives the tingling sensation you describe. I have it myself and get after hot showers, sauna, long runs, hard workouts, hard physical yardwork. It comes and goes, but I don´t worry much about it - sometimes it get itchy and I develop real urticaria with visible hives, that itches and are gone 30 -40 min. later. The urticaria I get is most often an allergic reaction to something I eat - but it gets worse during the hot months.

Like KaraBulut wrote you could try an antihismine if it really annoys you.

Damnit! it's back again. i guess the rain i've had here probably prevented it from happening at the beginning of the week. However, it was a pretty warm day a couple days ago when i went shopping with friends. and it didn't occur then :S

I'm still looking for a cure or way to prevent this if anyone knows of one

I was told 'pricky heat' happens when sweat glands that are not normally very active start working (e.g. when you get hot). The solution was said to be to stimulate sweating and drink lots of fluids.

that what exactly happens to me..totally understand what u mean. not sure a solution though..

I think you could be right with this. this past week i've been getting a heat wave here and the 'prickly heat' hasn't occurred nearly as often as it did before. It could be, like you said, that my sweat glands weren't as active. now with the hot temperature they get more active. I drink fluids regularly regardless so i don't know if that is a guaranteed solution to the problem.

To expand on this, i've heard from some article some of what you drink that doesn't get turned into waste, actually gets mixed with your perspiration. So when you sweat, some extra fluids of what you drink also get emitted. if you drink a lot of sugary drinks (pop, juice, etc.) your sweat can be sticky and not 'flow' as well through your sweat glands compared to if you drink plenty of water.

I hate to bring up an old thread, but I'm having problems with this, too. The original poster has been inactive for some time so I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with this? I get these symptoms when ever there's a "quick" temperature change, so when I exercise or even after I ejaculate! It's extremely uncomfortable. It started at the beginning of winter when I was out hiking. The thing is that it's primarily in my feet. The only time it spreads to my arms, chest, back, or legs is when I get embarrassed or angry. You know like when you feel your body getting hot and your face flushing? I don't know what to do. I've been taking Benadryl, but its not that effective and it's completely messed up my sleep schedule. I don't even like leaving the house anymore. Well, I know not many people may have this and as far as I can tell there's no cure, but I just thought I'd give it a shot and see if someone might have solutions! :help:

I mentioned this in my earlier post but this is a very rare condition and most of the practitioners have never seen a person with it.

You can start with a dermatologist in your area to eliminate other causes like parasites and fungal infections.

If it is cholinergic urticaria, you may have to go to a clinic associated with a medical school to find someone who is familiar with it.
