This is my first blog post...here it goes.
Well it's been a full year since I first came out. Granted, it's been almost 5 years since I knew I was gay, it just took me a few years of loneliness and a "girlfriend" to realize it. Two years ago I couldn't have even believed I would come out. I thought that somehow my feelings were just going to disappear. As much as I wanted them to, they didn't. That's when I finally came to terms with my life and just the sheer reality of what was going on.
Now a year into it things are a little better. I'll be graduating from college in a week with some really great friends that I'm going to miss. I came out to my best friend the night I broke up with my girlfriend. In this one year she has been so supportive and encouraging and I thank her so much for that. I could not have gone through this first year without her. With her help I've gone to my first gay bar which really opened my eyes to this new culture. She's been there when I began to come out with other people also. Only when I realized that I would soon have to come out to one of my closest straight male friends did I wonder just how comfortable I was with my sexuality.
Coming up on graduation I knew I wouldn't seen most of my friends for a while and most of them already knew about me except one, Liam. Liam was my roommate for two years of college and he had gone to L.A. for my first semester of being out at school. When he came back for our last semester he was none the wiser and I just couldn't find the right time to tell him. Last week, I thought it was either sooner or never so I told him. Just like the rest of my friends we was supportive and was really glad that I trusted him.
So far things have been great and I am soooooo ready to graduate! Oh....I'm going to Europe after graduation with my best friend and I can't wait. We're going to Italy and Greece to sightseeing (both architecture and men) and relaxation on the beach.
Well this is a recap of the next month. Hope you enjoyed!
