I was out for a bike ride on my old Peugout touring bike on this perfect summer day. It was left to me by an ex-roommate when I lived in Washington DC. I later learned that he died of AIDS. Every time I take it into bike shops for servicing they ask me if I know that it is a little too big for me. I tell them yes, but it has sentimental value. They seem to understand.
I was pondering today as I pounded down the pavement about how Lance Armstrong is my hero. I am so glad to be able to say, now that I am 45, that I have a sports hero. I'm only too happy to fondle my testicles in the shower thanks to Lance. It may save my life someday. I followed the bro-mance between Lance and Matthew McConaughey with interest. The good sportsmanship with which they handled the situation tells me everything I need to know about their characters.
My ass will probably be sore tomorrow, and I'll know the reason why. In a couple of hours, I'll walk downtown and watch the fireworks over the St Lawrence River.
Oh, and one more thing. Last week I went for an hour long bike ride, and then I came home and rested for an hour. I became curious about how this affected my blood pressure. I went down to our local drug store and tested my blood pressure. It decreased both my systolic, and diastolic BP by 8-9 points. Just an fyi.
