I could tell you what color she is but it's more fun if you guess.

Not to be confused with the North Carolina teacher who was wrongfully detained at gunpoint over a warrant where the name was mispelled....

Prior to the arrest this student missed job opportunities because of "her" record.

A Philadelphia woman visited a police station to find out why she appeared to have a police record despite having done nothing wrong — only to be arrested and put behind bars for nearly a week in a case of mistaken identity.

Julie Hudson, a 31-year-old Ph.D. student, had visited the Philadelphia police station on Jan. 5 after discovering she appeared to have a criminal record when she was repeatedly being denied jobs, she told NBC Philadephia.

Her hopes of resolving the issue were dashed when she was arrested and taken into custody.
Just a little jail time though, and an arrest record that's probably going to take 4 years and hundreds of dollars in legal fees to fix, no biggie smalls. And remember kids, *if you go to school and obey the law an eat all your vegetables the police won't have any reason to bother you! :gogirl:

*results may vary

They could have EASILY figured it out especially since she walked in to ask the question.

There is no "figuring out" needed to find our what color she was :grrr:

I want to know when they fire the people responsible for locking her up.

This and story teacher amazes me because it's like how outdated is police's tech and database? You can type any person's name in google and find their name and address, social media and a list of their deepest fears it cofounds all reason thtat there are problems identifying people in 2023. Another rabbit hole I refuse to enter today is.. how many other instances of this have we never heard about and did they have deadly results for the misidentified?

Larry Krasner is Philadelphia's District Attorney. The story quotes him. He's in Julie Hudson's corner and disapproves of the police action.

Republicans in the Pennsylvania Legislature have voted to impeach Krasner. They have not yet removed him from office.

I really didn't distrust Philadelphia police before. What did I know?! I'm just glad I'm in an adjacent suburb where our police are accountable to all our diverse population.
