I've been diagnosed with ME, possibly caused by a autoimmune disorder.

Few months ago I made a thread here about being sick all the time and being frustrated about my doctor.

Well I got a second opinion and was diagnosed with ME (Chronic fatigue). Although it can be a disorder of it's own it's often a symptom other disorders especially autoimmune disorders. So although he diagnosed me with ME he wants to go to a specialist to see if I might have a autoimmune disorder as well. I've been reading up about it since the doctor visit and it turns out I have about 2/3 of the symptoms from Sjögren's syndrome, an autoimmune disorder. Fatigue, dry eyes and mouth are the main symptoms and they have always been the main symptoms for me as well.

So yeah I've been on this new medication called LDN for the fatigue for couple of weeks now. I can feel a slight improvement but nothing groundbreaking. It can take couple of months for it to have full effect so I'm gonna try to be positive.

I'll see the specialist in the beginning of next month.

Just wanted to share :)

Thanks for sharing. My sympathies are with you.

I wish you all the best with the visit to your specialist and further recovery.

Thanks for updating us. Sorry to hear about your illness. I have noticed more recently that sometimes you have to push a doctor, or self diagnose yourself, or go to two or three doctors before you get answers. I wish you good luck with your future. Keep us informed of your progress and keep venting here.

Yes that's my experience as well, especially with regular doctors compared to specialists. Many of our doctors have moved after the financial crisis so it's even worse now because each has so many patients. It feels like they just want to handle it in few minutes so they can move on to the next.

This time I was smart enough to go straight to a specialist. I don't go with an agenda though I just give him the symptoms and hopefully he also sees something out of it. Doctors hate nothing more than patients going "so I googled my symptoms and..." which apparently is common these days

I am glad that you may have finally found an answer , i can remember your sense of frustration , remember that there are now a couple of Charitys that specialise in ME , give them a call , they are great at advice , support and if you want to arranging for you to meet up with others with the same condition .
Take care , Adam..........(*8*)

So sorry to hear that. I wish you a speedy recovery (*8*)

Well I see it as good news rather than bad.

I've been sick for years now but now I finally have a name for it.

The negative though is that there is no cure so I'll probably have it for life. On the other hand there is a high success rate of minimizing the symptoms with the right lifestyle and medication.

I'm already a part of a online group and I've gotten a lot of answers and info there as well as support.

I'm so lucky that the pharmacy in my neighborhood is only the 2nd pharmacy in Europe to sell LDN. Apparently nobody has the license of ownership for it so most doctors don't even know about it since it's not being promoted by anyone. Thankfully that also means cheap price.
