It would seem the American people are finished with Bush. Sadly, he's a federal employee, not easy to fire. Still, how low can he go?
When they stop polling the Bush, Chance, Mowrest and Mazdaboi extended families in their sampling, I'd say he might bottom out at 25%. ;)

can't wait for next week's poll

If you like polls so much, maybe you will like the polls showing your favorite former NYC mayor beating the Democratic candidate in November 2008.

So which poll would like to believe. Bush's current rating or the Nov 2008 election poll.:D :D

ZOW-eee. . . November 2008 is coming up so much sooner than I thought!!! Sheesh. People have learned since that poll was taken just what a nimrod Rudy is. . . like the "debate" for instance. Totally unprepared. Completely outclassed by Mitt, who has zero chance of being pres. Not that I have anything against it, but, I don't think Americans are ready for a Mormon president. Just as I'm not sure they're ready for a female. . . although I'd be okay with Hillary for pres. (especially if she takes Evan Bayh for VP).

I wonder why so many Independents in the Newsweek Poll generally lean more toward the Republican, though? That's something to watch for.

What would be in a Republican candidate's message as opposed to a Democrat's message which would be more appealing to registered Independents?

Could it be more Independents are registered NRA members and there is some mind-set there more likely to like something Rep. over the Dem overall?

Hmmm, those Independents are like a canary going into a mine. I say we watch them.

It's all in the "positioning." Rudy promotes himself as a moderate. . . although we all know he leans WAAAAAY to the right, some independents have yet to see through the charade.

you have a different definition of what being to the right means, if you think Rudy leans to the right very far. Most of the nation is most likel;y looking for a moderate and that is why a candidate far to the right or far to the left most likely won't win.

Republicans are fighting a useless battle to be elected president. Hillary will win, Edwards will back down because of his wife's illness and america is not ready for a black president (as sad as it is...I support Obama, but America is still too racist), but america is ready for a white, female, president, and thats how Hillary will win.

He IS to the right. The only thing "Liberal" about him is his stance on abortion. Of course the Rudy of tomorrow is unknown as he flip-flops like a stinking fish.

"Rudy Giuliani believes marriage is between a man and a woman. He does not - and has never - supported gay marriage."

"Rudy Giuliani is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment"

"Rudy Giuliani believes in supply-side economics, because he did it and he saw it work. "

"Rudy is also a strong supporter of school choice, believing that it is one of the great civil rights issues of our time."

"The kind of judges he has said he would appoint are strict constructionists like Justices Scalia, Roberts and Alito – principled individuals who can be trusted to respect the Constitution as it is written, rather than attempting to legislate from the bench."

"[H]e believes setting an artificial timetable for withdrawal from Iraq now would be a terrible mistake, because it would only embolden our enemies.

Rasmussen!! Please, Sir, there's a reason Republicans like him.

Here is a collection of polls going back two months from all major pollsters:

Please, jack, enlighten me: how is it that only Rasmussen has Bush at 40? Why is it that Fox, Newsweek, Washington Post, CNN, WSJ, Diego, NBC, CBS, Time and everyone else has him struggling in the thirties? Can you educate me on this, jack?

Mostly because the polls you mentioned oversample democrats. The Rasmussen poll is a rolling poll. It is done on a daily basis and you can see daily results for the last month and monthy results for the last several years. It is consistent in that it uses the same question and sample size. The part that is important isn't the number itself, but the trend up or down. Bush has been about where he is for about a year now. There is no trend. That is what is significant.

You are correct, sir! If Rudy wants to be a serious contender for Republican nomination, he must walk the party line. . . anti-abortion.

Republican hopefulls MUST take the party stance to be contenders. As I've said before, GHWBush was "The Pro-Choice Republican" until he wanted to be considered for VP under Reagan. There're other fine examples. . . jus' cain't think of 'em right now.

^ So, what you're saying is that all the media is AGAINST coward Bush and they try to inflate the numbers -- that's what you're saying, right? Fine, then prove it -- please show the board which polls of the, oh, thirty or so above oversampled Dems, so as to swing the polling against their corporate interests.

Otherwise, jack, you're just blowing smoke up your own ass.

I'm not obligated to prove anything Alfie, it's your argument. If you want to go ahead and cite a FOX poll, as you did in your pervious post, and then turn around and contend that they aren't a legitimate news source, I suppose you can do that. But it does make you look somewhat inconsistent, don't you think?

Giuliani... AKA the politician that no one liked until 9/11.

As for the approval rating, let's just call it like it is... He doesn't have a 28% approval rating, he has a 72% disapproval rating.

Trends More Important Than Absolute Numbers

To call Giuliani a "moderate" is an insult to moderates everywhere. Fact is, the man is an extremist, an authoritarian thugette with a shit attitude and a well-known inability to work and play well with others. Honestly, the guy is insane.
I confess to not knowing a whole lot about Rudy except for the comments in this forum. From the few times I've heard him speak, its all about how he cleaned up NYC and how he will protect the country from future attacks. He seems to have a quick temper and a stubborn streak (my way or the highway), much like George Bush.

Obviously my vote is not in play for the Republican primary so it doesn't really matter what I think about him. His fate will be decided by the 20 percenters if they get back in time to vote after basic training and before their stints in Iraq. ;)
