If gay male African Americans on this board or anywhere else feel pressured to stop the progress of LGBT visibility on TV and other entertainment medium, it's probably because hypocritical homophobes (and in this case, they double as misogynists as well) like these. If only they would be able to turn the criticism back onto people like Ja Rule instead of feeling the need to attack people on this board. Sad...

I've certainly heard people find fault with Kanye, but at the very least, I wish those people calling for more gay characters in TV or eviscerating people like Isaiah Washington for what he said and did would at least give Kanye some credit for his statements denouncing homophobia in rap/hip-hop, at least until someone bigger and better comes around and picks up the torch that Kanye has held up until we can afford to see him as a total has-been. Have you heard the self-loathing attitudes some gay African Americans on this very board have of their affectionality and sexuality because of the amount of homophobia spewed by (mostly black) rappers and the black church, among so many other places in society?

Gawd knows, they need as many big name people in the rap/hip-hop industry denouncing hypocritical bigotry, and if Kanye's the biggest name we got, let's encourage him instead of finding fault with him for his other flaws or what not. No one's perfect.

Just because you allow gay people into your house doesn't mean you're not homophobic. I've been into many a home of a homophobe. Hey, they offered me booze. Don't judge.
