I've had a great time viewing alot of the videos posted here to download, however most of them when I view are really jerky and skip images. I use Media Player and VLC (which seems better but won't play wmv files) and occasionally Real Player. The audio portion plays well.
Most I view thru Media Player and it seems to be the worst. I've tried searching for a fix online but can't seem to figure out what causes it. My connection is thru cable so it's pretty fast downloading the vids.
I've noticed at the bottom of the player screen when viewing it says variable bit rate but not sure what that means.
I've gone thru tools and performance to alter the connection speeds and buffering but that makes little difference. Also lowered the acceleration. Nothing seems to help.
Anybody have a fix for this? Is the problem with the hosting sites like **********, etc.?

most of the video's i've seen here i've never had a problem with jerkiness or what not. so i don't think it is the source that is having the problem. you may have something running in the background on windows that is hogging a lot of resources and that is slowing your video play back down.

can you give us an example of a video that isn't playing well. then maybe one of us can go look at it and see it it plays ok for us.

what codec pack are you using to view the videos? I use the k-lite mega codec pack and it seems to work well. you can get it here if you want to try it: http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

there is a full, standard, and basic. i tend to use the full, not that there is anything wrong with the others. the basic will just have fewer codecs in it.

Sounds to me like you have a lot of cr@p running in the background that's hogging your system resources. Open up the task manager and see how much is listed there.

If I open task manager under the applications tab all I see is the page I am viewing (JUB in this case) and an add blocker. If I look under the processes tab there's like 19 different things listed. All are somthing.exe. (smss.exe, winlogon.exe, etc.) If thats what your talking about, how do I know which ones to eliminate? Thanks

Actually if you could just list the things that are there we might be able to tell you if anything is jumping out at us. (or take a screenshot and post the picture.) The tab you want to look at is Processes.

Microsoft NET Framework seemed to be the big system resource hog for me, so I un-installed it from my laptop. There was NET Framework 1.1, Hotfix, and 2.0 versions, and I took them all off, and all seems ok, sort of. Still it is weird that something would peg the CPU resources to 100 percent all the time on the laptop.

I could have saved a LOT of time when I had a similar problem on my laptop, if I had downloaded and run the 'Video Stability Test' (look for it at tucows or similar sites). In my case the video card was fried and no amount of tweaking was going to fix it.

I have an older PC with Windows 2000. How do I take a screenshot? Also when I right click on the listings nothing happens so I can't copy and paste the list either. Thanks again guys.

You can't cut and paste the list, you either have to type it out or take a screenshot with the good old PrntScrn Button...

Okay....I finally was able to make a screenshot. Now....how do I insert or copy and paste into my reply? I've tried right clicking....that don't work. Tried File save as.... into documents....didn't work. Do I have to post a link? Am I really this stupid..?

ok well i don't know why pressing the windows button AND the prtscn button is required all you need to do is press the prtscn button. then i would open MS paint and then select paste from the menu (or ctrl and v). then you can crop it a bit if you want. But really all you need to do is from in Paint click file---save as--- then name it, pick where you want to save it (i'd save it to the desktop to make it easy to find), and change the type of file from the default 24-bit bitmap to a JPG file. then follow the instructions here to figure out how to upload the photo into your post here.

ps there is also a thread here that explains how to take a screen shot and how to crop it using MS Paint: http://justusboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83135

okay....I opened Run....copied and pasted your command and I received an error message stating it couldn't find "WMIC". Soory guys I guess I am not so good with this stuff. Thanks
