Joining a Gym for the 1st Time: Please Advise

hhmmmm not impossible, maybe just a wee bit inplausable.

i suggest talking to a doctor first and doing it sensibly, it may not happen as fast as you would like but you would be safe, no sense in doing yourself harm.

I have anxiety issues so going to the gym was pretty intimidating to start.

So do I. I hope going to the gym regularly and achieving my physical fitness goals will help alleviate my anxiety "issues". Or is this just wishful thinking of mine?

it will. Like anything, novelty is anxiety provoking. After you've been for a while, it'll be routine and you won't think anything of it.

i used to think " omg i cant go, i'll look ridiculous in my track bottoms and t-shirt" (i know i know, girly of me) but if you focus on you and ignore the fact other people are there then you can get past it

This is why I go to a smaller gym. I've been to big gyms where tons of guys are huge and built like body builders and all that is kind of intimidating and disappointing for me. It's too much of a distraction.

LOL. Cute. Yeah, I've got to get me some track bottoms here soon. I'll never go to the gym with the legs I have now.

I see. Well the gym I'm going to isn't all that small. In fact, here it is (for your viewing pleasure).

I joined 24 Hours Fitness a couple of weeks ago and I met a friend who showed the ropes and gave me a structured routine.

I'm also taking a PE class in college, and we have access to several weight-training machines. I'm thinking I should cancel my membership with 24 Hours as we have access to the school gym everyday, and I need to be saving money.

i use these routines from www.stronglifts.com
