A friend emailed this to me. As an unashamed fan of the legendary lady and "The Sound of Mucous", I'm passing this on so fellow JUB devotees can enjoy it, too (apologies if it has been posted before). She always did have a great sense of humour .......

To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP.

One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from the legendary movie "Sound Of Music."

Here are the lyrics she used:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.)

I've always admired this LADY and her incredible talents.

Say the magic words, "Julie Andrews"!

"The Sound of Mucous", I had forgotten that.... I emailed your post around to friends. Had to share it. ..|

I´ve always loved Edwards-Mancini´s "Victor/Victoria", and was amazed to find cleverer and enjoy the satire in "Mary Poppins" FAR more than the ultrapoppinesque, schmaltzy and simplistic "The Sound Of Music", but I always think of such great talented artists as a waste in the shitty music they sing.

Happy birthday, Julie, and thanks for the many magic moments!

Okay, while I do of course wish Julie a very happy birthday, I'd like to point out a few things here:

1) Julie Andrews was born in 1935, so she's 71 this year, not 69.

2) She could not have sung this, either this year or two years ago when she was actually 69. Julie Andrews has not been able to sing a note since 1997, when a botched operation to remove nodules from her throat ruined her singing voice.

It's a funny song... but sorry, urban legend.

Julie Andrews is not the only case of a celebrity with at least two birth dates. I don´t give a shit about how old she really is, but I know her year of birth has sometime been given as 1937 .

I LOVE her!!! Who doesn't??? It's funny how a Brit can become an Icon for all of America. She's an institution here in the States. We all love her!!!!

Yep! She did a rare singing performance for the sequel with the equally cheerful Raven Symone. It was sooo cute! LOL

i love her also! Happy Birthday Ms. Andrews!

Also, I found this on wikipedia, so maybe she has sang a little, but not much:

"Andrews has been struggling to recover her five-octave singing voice following surgery to remove vocal fold nodules from her throat, but had a short tour of the USA at the end of 2002 with Christopher Plummer, Charlotte Church, Max Howard, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The year before her tour, she and Plummer reunited for the first time since The Sound of Music in a live television adaptation of On Golden Pond, which aired on CBS in the United States. In 2005 she agreed to direct a Toronto revival of The Boy Friend, the Broadway musical in which she made her debut in America."
